“If you need something to make you smile, this dog is for you. She has good physique, learns well, and walks on a leash well. Depending on the owner input, she is developing a wonderful character. She is very alert and realizes noises before our dogs do.
Remember, she is a toddler and needs lots of toys. She is just learning to play ball and fetch.”

Coal, with her gorgeous ash-gray coat, has been busy warming hearts this winter season. We are delighted to announce that she’s ready to find her forever home, and just in time for Christmas! Coal was surrendered by her previous owner who didn't have the time and financial resources to care for her. As you can see, Coal has a cleft lip. It makes her smile extra special, but otherwise doesn’t affect her at all.

Coal is young and energetic and her charming ways have won over everyone she’s met! While in foster care, she has been spayed, had dental extractions, and also a few procedures to reconstruct and repair her cleft lip. Coal has taken all of this in stride and continues to be a happy and inquisitive pup! In terms of her health, she is in tip-top shape, but has a history of urinary tract infections that her forever family will need to monitor for reoccurrence.

In a previous foster home, Coal did great with the young child and we think a forever home with children would be a good match. Since she’s never been exposed to cats, we have to say no to homes with feline fur-kids. Coal currently lives with three resident Frenchies. She shares well and enjoys having fur-siblings to play with. Coal loves all chew toys and stuffies! She plays hard and then zonks out which is simply adorable. She’s very much a “toddler” in human terms! Coal learns well, but will need continuous positive reinforcement and someone with the time and willingness to continue training. Coal is almost potty trained and will need a forever home that can be patient and understanding while she’s learning. Tile or hard-surface flooring is a plus with younger pups! Keep in mind that her potty training is not yet complete, so if a house-trained dog is a must for you, Coal won't suit.

We think Coal would be happiest in a home where she can express her energy. An ideal home might have a fenced yard and fur-siblings to play with! Ideally, Coal would have someone home all day to lavish her with affection, but a pet sitter or walker would be adequate. Coal still needs to master potty training, but she could be a great office companion once she gets a bit older.

Here’s a few words from Coal’s foster mom, “If you need something to make you smile, this dog is for you. She has good physique, learns well, and walks on a leash well. Depending on the owner input, she is developing a wonderful character. She is very alert and realizes noises before our dogs do.
Remember, she is a toddler and needs lots of toys. She is just learning to play ball and fetch.”

If you think you can handle all the cuteness, and you need more smiles in your life, then please apply for Coal today. Let us know why your family would be the perfect fit and be prepared to head to Oklahoma! FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.

FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.

ABOUT COAL:
Coal had a dental with extractions, spay, and cleft lip reconstruction in Sept. 2019. In Oct. 2019, Coal had a second lip repair procedure performed.

She has a history of urinary tract infections that must be monitored for recurrence. Ask your vet what to watch for and what a UTI1Shorty Bull1ShortyBUll408 might mean to her overall health.
