Dezz was surrendered when his family realized he was spending too much time in the crate as their working hours and family obligations grew. His foster family reports that he's really a great dog, but he does have some personality quirks his applicants should know about. He has no leash aggression, but he's not a sharer when it comes to toys, food, or people. For that reason, we feel he'd be best as an only dog. He's an escape artist. His family reports he has busted through 2 baby gates. The heart wants what the heart wants, and Dezz's heart wants to be near yours.
The good news is he tolerates kitties! Plus he is crate- and house-trained. Dezz is a leader and a dominant boy. He likes to be way out front on leash walks. He doesn't need a lot of exercise--he's thrilled with a 30-minute stroll. He really loves to give the fenced yard a good sniffin' in the cool hours of the day, so a home with a fenced yard will get preference. Dezz knows a few basic commands (sit, down, stay)
Full disclosure: Once when someone was knocking at the door and Dezz was being pushed back out of the way, he nipped at the pusher's leg. Never before and never since, but you should know.
As for what Dezz loves? Nylabones. Car rides (open windows). Piddling on every leaf and blade of grass in the yard. Stuffy destruction. Assisting with lawn watering (see video). Cuddling. Foot warming. Belly rubs. Bathing in the spa--his foster family puts on some soft music and he will lie in the warm water and be sudsed up. He's a very mellow boy.
We are looking for a small family or a single person who is willing to lose their minds over this dog and spend their lives basking in his company. He's really a people person and thrives in the company of his family--he loves to be touching you. He'd be best with someone who worked from home or could take him to the office, but someone who is willing to use a mid-day dog sitter would be considered. We prefer a home with grass and fenced yard, but will consider a city placement if the applicant can persuade us he'll get lots of time in the park.
His family has this to say about the adorable Dezz: "Dezz is such a snuggle-muffin, and he makes us laugh almost constantly with his snores, seriously concerned expressions and overall wiggly and loveable personality. He thinks he's the bossman, and seeing such a tiny creature exhibit Napolean traits is hilarious. He also loves to chase the water hose stream and now has learned how to run around the yard watering the grass holding the water hose! He's a fast learner and loves his pupper parents so much. He has such exuberance for life, and his energy is contagious. He's the sweetest little cuddler and will ball up right against your side whenever he wants a little nap. He has also learned how to stealthily jump onto the bed at night, so we've been waking up with little whiskers in our face (he uses a pillow like a human!).
"He was in rough shape when we received him, but we've watched him blossom into such a perfect little companion over these last few months. Whoever adopts this sweet boy will have won the puppers lottery. He's really become such a significant and special part of our family, and we'll be blue when we see him go, but we know he has an exciting life to go live!"
At 30 pounds, Dezz is too big to fly in cabin, so if you win his hand in dog-marriage, you will have to travel to Central Texas to fetch him.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
For Dezz: Your googly eyes make me happy, because our sweet baby girl was wall-eyed just like you! Nicole Stevens
Tuxford Turner- HAPPY BIRTHDAY PORTIA!! The closest I could get to getting you a Frenchie for your birthday was to help one out a little bit in honor of you. I hope Dezz feels the love you feel for these smooshy dogs as he munches on some yummy cookies. Love you! -T
