"Dumpling has been an absolute joy to foster. He reminds us of a clown dog at the circus! He is full of joy and happiness. He has short legs and big paws, and a funny little walk that makes everyone smile that he meets on the street. He loves his people and will give him tiny little kisses when they get home and then will follow them everywhere. Anyone who adopts him will be lucky indeed and will have a life full of Frenchie love!"

About Dumpling:

Dumpling has brachycephalic airway syndrome. He had nares and palate resection with saccules removed on 08.07.2018, but remains symptomatic, so his breathing must be monitored during exercise or play. He must wear a harness when going for walks, never a collar or choke chain.

Dumpling has a sensitive stomach and must remain on his current diet and supplements.

Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New York City, Dumpling made his way to FBRN when a new baby in the family developed an allergy to dogs. Are you looking for a dance partner? Well, Dumpling is ready to merengue his way into your heart and home.

Okay, truth be told, despite his Dominican roots, dancing is not Dumpling's forte. He's more of a zoomies-in-the-back-yard-followed-by-quality-time-with-a-Nylabone kind of guy. He also loves playing fetch, wrestling with his canine foster siblings, and cuddling with people. He knows "sit" and "stay", understands that "no" means "no", and is housebroken and crate trained (but he would rather curl up in his bed or on the sofa). He's basically an all around great guy, but he does have a weakness - he's a sock eater. In fact cloth items like dog beds, towels, soft toys are irresistible to him, and if he's not supervised, he will shred cloth items and might swallow some of the pieces, which could prove to be quite dangerous and require an emergency vet visit. You should think about your household and give the natural state of your home's ecosystem a bit of consideration before you apply.

During his time in foster care, Dumpling had surgery to help him with his brachycephalic airway syndrome. While the procedures helped his breathing, his forever family should limit Dumpling to short walks and monitor him during play time to make sure he doesn't overexert himself. An air conditioned home is a must. He also needs to be kept on a GI sensitive diet to prevent tummy issues.

Dumpling's dream home would have an outdoor space to run and play , canine companions, and people who are home for a good part of the day. Unfortunately, he has not been exposed to kitties, so there should be none in his forever home. If he can't have people home with him all day, he should be fine with a mid-day break or accompanying someone to the office.

If you are looking for a dog who loves people and dogs alike, Dumpling may be your man. If you are selected as Dumpling's forever family, you will need to collect him by car at his foster home. He is too large to fly. If you live a considerable distance away, please plan plenty of pit stops for the trip home, as Dumpling is not a fan of long road trips. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.

FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
