The lovely Gigi is ready to find her forever home. Gigi came to FBRN after her previous family adopted her from a breeder but did not realize all of the issues that can come with one of these experienced ladies. They felt ill-equipped to provide Gigi with what she needed based on their lifestyle.
The only medical issues that Gigi has are her allergies. Boy, are there a lot of things that she is allergic to! Gigi needs to be on Apoquel for her itchies and will need to continue this in her forever home ($60-$100 a month, depending on your source). She also came to foster care with some yeasty ears. This has happened in foster care as well, so her forever family should be on the lookout that her ears might be prone to this recurring.
The good news is Gigi loves children. She has been around toddlers in the form of her human foster siblings and loves them. When it comes to dogs, Gigi is easy going and would do well in a home with or without canine fur siblings. She gets along great with her foster dog siblings and there aren't been any reasons for concern. The only dislike that this little lady has is cats, plus she is allergic to them!
Like almost any Frenchie, Gigi is happy just relaxing on the couch or living a life of leisure. Every once in a while Gigi will get a sudden burst of energy and leap off the couch after a toy, a shoe, or a sock. Gigi doesn't even mind chewing on bones. She loves attention from all of her humans and will seek it out. She has recently started to seek out attention from her fur siblings but this is still uncommon. Gigi is fine with a short walk, better yet she really prefers a drive around the block.
Like any lady, Gigi's morning beauty routine takes her some time. She is not just the get up and go type of girl. She is slow to get started and doesn't always want to eat right away. So if her forever family has a schedule she will need plenty of time to decide when she wants to eat. It is also typical that Gigi only eats once a day. If that's the case then her foster family doubles up her food for dinner and she will eat it all.
She doesn't know any basic commands and isn't a fan of her crate. However, Gigi is crate trained and will go in her crate when needed. She still has an occasional accident in her foster home. Gigi is very subtle in her requests to go outside, so if you aren't very attentive and miss it then she will find an alternate location to do her business.
Gigi will do well in most homes. She does like to bolt outside, so a fenced yard is required for this little lady. Gigi has a small problem with stairs that needs to be monitored when she navigates them, or feel free to treat Gigi like a princess and carry her down those evil stairs. She is also allergic to human epithelial cells, so unfortunately that means no sleeping with her humans. Gigi's foster mom has found that if she uses a barrier that has only been used by a dog (such as a blanket, sheet, ect) between them to minimize skin contact then that works great and she still gets to snuggle with her humans. Gigi could be an office dog, but she might distract the humans too much from trying to get their work done and wanting all their attention.
Gigi's foster mom had this to say about her: "Gigi has been the most easy-going foster I have ever had. From the moment I picked her up, she stole my heart. She is the most loving and sweet little girl you will ever meet. She adores my kids, especially my 9 year old daughter, and will follow her around (either physically or just with her eyes) any time she hears/sees her. She is a shoe/sock stealer, but you can't help but giggle as you watch her "sneak" up on the shoe, snag it, and take off running (with a shoe bigger than her mind you) so that you will chase her. So hilarious. This soft-hearted girl deserves a family who will treat her like the princess that she is. They are all hard to let go of, but this one is going to be especially tough."
If you're ready to have a little love bug in your life, who likes to steal your shoe so that you give her chase, then consider adopting Gigi. She will steal your heart if she hasn't already from reading the bio and seeing her pictures. All you need to do is fill out an application and be ready to pick her up if you are chosen.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
