This one year old ball of energy is looking for the perfect home to call her own. Since she has all her puppy energy, a home with infants or toddlers wouldn't be a good fit for her. She wouldn't want to accidentally bowl them over as she runs circles around them. Any older kids would be a great addition to Kayleigh's forever home. She'd even love to have a fur sibling (canine of course) that could keep up with her energy and wrestle around with her. She shouldn't be around cats or smaller animals as she has a high prey drive and no one would want her to hurt any other animals.
Kayleigh is a goofy Frenchie who marches to the beat of her own drum. She loves to play for her own enjoyment, not the amusement of her family. If left to her own devices, she would be more than happy to play with a resident dog all day long. She will even share her toys with her fur siblings after they have finished one of their wrestling matches. She is a submissive girl, but she has a way to go in understanding social cues. She'd be happy cuddling on the couch getting belly rubs all day. Unfortunately for her, she needs her exercise to get rid of that puppy energy, so 24-hour cuddle sessions are not possible. A fenced yard is a must for this girl, so she can go on critter patrol and expend that energy. The yard must be physically fenced--no dangerous invisible fence for Kayleigh, because she would bust through it going after a kitty or a squirrel. In terms of her health, she doesn't present with the normal Frenchie breathing issues.
Kayleigh is housebroken and crate trained. Her potty training is pretty much completed, but occasionally there will be an excitement accident or nugget left behind. Potty training is a work-in-progress under special circumstances, and applicants should be aware of that. While no one is home she is comfy in her x-pen. She doesn't whine or bark while there, simply goes to the land of Nod surrounded by all her stuffy friends or toys. She would benefit from obedience training with her forever family. In the time she has been at her foster home she has learned how to sit. Although she has large ears and can hear her foster parent, she hasn't learned any commands. It's possible that she might respond better to the name "crinkled treat package". Animal crackers happen to be this girl's favorite snack!
She would do well going to a home that is not in the city. She's reactive to sounds, reflections on the window, people outside. Move over Tom Hanks, the burbs would be the best place for this girl to move into. She would do best in any type of home as long as there were no small children. No cats or other small animals due to her prey drive. She would do great with a puppy pal that could match her energy level. She'd love to spend hours playing with someone. Someone that works from home or could keep her engaged for a good part of the day would be preferred. Even if she's engaged by someone for most of the day she still has an enormous amount of energy to expel. She would not make a good office dog. It is possible that she could adjust to someone coming home part of the way through the day and letting her out to romp around.
Kayleigh's foster parent had this to say about her: "Kayleigh has made herself right at home with us. She is a love bug and wants nothing more than to be near or on her people getting petted or belly rubs. My wish for Kayleigh is for her to go to a home where she will be equally loved as she was in her previous home and here in her foster home. I would love for her to have a furry sibling to play with until she's ready to nap. Her new home should invest the time for obedience training. With her energy level, it would be for bonding and safety. She is fast and it is extremely important she learn recall in case she were to get away from her handler. She would do a Forrest Gump and keep running. If you chase her, she'll think it's a game and run faster. I've experienced this many times in the backyard. It's not a fun game. She's a special, loving, goofy girl, who is going to make a family extremely happy and break many hearts along the way."
If you're looking for an energetic puppy to add some spunk and goofiness to your day, then look no further than Kayleigh. All you have to do is fill out an application for her and be ready to hop in that car and pick her up if you are selected as her forever home!
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
KNOWN HEALTH PROBLEMS/CONSIDERATIONS:
