Sherman has occasional submissive/excitement urination, most often when people return to the home.
At 37 pounds, Sherman is certainly tank-like, and when he goes out for walks, he rolls through the neighborhood with purpose. Sherman is certanly large for a Frenchie, but he is not overweight.
Sherman was found by his owners on an internet listing. Though the family had a perky Westie, they soon realized that Sherman required more from them than they were able to give. He's a very active dog, and we are looking for an active applicant for him.
Sherman has no allergies or health problems. Like some dogs, when his family returns from work he sometimes piddles in excitement. We'd recommend greeting him on a tiled or easily-wiped floor.
Sherman came from a brief stay in his adopters home with kids, but we think he'd be happiest in a home with older children who have time to play with him. He also tends to steal things, like socks, that are left on the floor, so kids should be dog-savvy and tidy. Sherman loves to shred toys, and socks resemble shreddable toys. He'll drop them quickly if he's discovered with one.
Sherman enjoys the company of other dogs! He's active and happy to play, but if he's rebuffed he can take a hint. He's currently fostering in a home with a 13-year-old Boston diva and a 1 year-old-Frenchie pup who like to play. Another middle-aged female will play, but only on her terms. He gets along with them all.
Sherman loves his people. Loves to be near them so much he may join you in the shower to be sure you have the sense not to drown yourself.
He really likes men. When his foster dad is home, he has eyes for no one else, and he will plop down beside any chair he's sitting in. His foster mom says he is not a lap dog. Sherman enjoys playing fetch, but he hasn't gotten the idea of dropping the ball yet, so his family will have the fun of teaching him that part.
Sherman is great in the car, fun on walks, and is happy to hang out by your side, or to engage your pudgy or portly pugs in play. He really needs a lot of exercise, but once he's been worn out, he will conk out and snore. His foster mom says he's good in his crate for the day with some toys, but naturally, he'd love it if someone could be home with him all day or much of the day. He's a good boy and doesn't turn over the trash can. He is very good about the boundaries his foster family have set around furniture. His worst habit is the sock stealing and shredding we mentioned earlier. He needs high-caliber toys, so make sure a couple of those a month are in the budget.
He'd be a great office dog. He follows commands very well.
We think he'd be fine in an apartment, and if you want to apply for him and don't have a fenced area, let us know. As long as he gets adequate exercise, we'll consider your application. HOA forbids fences? Let us know how you plan to address Sherman's need for exercise in your application.
Sherman is a great dog, but he's too big to travel by plane. If you are prepared to surrender to his charm, you'll have to travel to the belly-button of the nation, central Oklahoma.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
