Taco 'bout a cutie! Our Tuesday afternoon special, Taco, is ready to find the perfect forever home! This little nugget is as playful as they come, but he also loves to snuggle, too! If you are looking for a puppy to play with and teach the rules of the roost to, Taco could be the one for you.
Taco loves to play! He loves to chew on his toys and needs to have lots of toys to play with and shred or, as most puppies, he will get into trouble. He loves soft toys he can destroy since he really just wants to rip things up. Taco will do best in a home with another dog who is a leader and a little bit older and can show him how a "good dog" behaves. He is very smart and learns really quickly form the other pups around him. Taco is currently learning his manners and is very food motivated, which makes him a great candidate for future obedience classes with his new family.
Taco's mom says he's a hunk, a chick magnet, and a foodie. He likes soft cushy beds to sleep on, preferably with his favorite person. He prefers to snuggle with soft chewy toys and if you leave a newspaper or magazine out, he will be sure to shred it! If you leave the house, Taco will want to go with you as he loves to be included in all adventures. Most importantly, you need to be super patient, because Taco needs positive reinforcement training. Taco likes taking long, slow walks with lots of time to sniff all the good things he encounters. He will jog/walk quickly for short distances (a block) with you if you want, but mostly he likes to take lots of short slow walks during the day.
Taco is crate trained and will go to his bed if told to, and he'll sleep in the crate. He doesn't know many commands but has been doing "sit" for treats or kibble. Because of his boundless enthusiasm and need to learn a few more manners, the perfect home for Taco will be one with children that are aged 10 or older. Taco will do best living in a home or apartment that has a fenced yard. He also needs to live with a family that has someone at home most of the time so that he can learn the potty schedule and practice his manners. Taco does have mild separation anxiety so if he will be left alone for more than a couple of hours he will need a dog walker to spend time with him and let him outside. Taco is still working on his potty training and might not be ready to go to the office with his new owner quite yet.
Taco's foster family has this to share about him, "Taco is one of the most, if not the most, affectionate dog I have ever had the pleasure to be around and we have fostered for over 5 years with different rescues. This little baby boy is quite a handful but it will be so worth setting consistent boundaries with him-- because he's truly an amazing, fun, huggable, sweet as can be little dude. He's cute as he can be and he will give you a hug and a kiss as well as make you laugh! We love him and he's great with our dog. Just remember- he's a huge puppy with virtually no training up to now."
Be sure to tell us about any experience training puppies in your application.
If you would like to adopt Taco, be prepared to travel. Taco is being fostered in New Your City and will not be shipped. FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
Taco is an active puppy, so adopters should be prepared to expend significant energy keeping up and supervising him. He has a bit of anxiety, and he takes CBD oil to combat that.
Welcome to FBRN, little Taco. x Alicia Cervini
