Before Amherst could be introduced on the foster page, he passed away. A number of people donated to his care, and we are very sad to share this news.
It is with a shattered hearts that we share Amherst has lost his fight this afternoon. His surgeon called to let us know that he has shown no improvement over the last few days. We gave him every chance, but his quality of life was not likely to improve. As difficult a decision that it was, we knew that we had to let him go. In the loving arms of his foster mom and surgeon, he was helped over the Rainbow Bridge.
Amherst made an enormous impact on everyone involved with his care: his foster mom, doctors, the FBRN community, and you, his supporters. When we asked you to help raise the funds for his care, we were blown away with the response. You all rallied for Amherst and although in the end he couldn’t be saved, he was shown love - he knew love. Thank you for giving him that.
