Just in time for Valentine's day, we have a delectable morsel much sweeter than anything you'll find in a heart-shaped box. Meet Fidget!
This darling girl came to FBRN because her previous owner became unable to give Fidget the care and attention she needs. Many tears were shed during her surrender, and it is clear that Fidget was loved dearly--she arrived at her foster mom's house with a suitcase full of clothes and toys, and even remembered to pack her toothbrush. (Foster mom says Fidget has the freshest breath of any Frenchie she's ever met!) Fidget also came with a small pharmacy's worth of medicated lotions, shampoos, wipes, and prescriptions, because while she won the genetic lottery in the looks department, she didn't fare so well when it comes to health. Fidget suffers from both Cushing's Disease (an incurable condition where the body produces too much cortisol) and severe environmental allergies, which have combined to leave her skin in a dreadful state. Extensive allergy testing and a trip to the dermatologist will certainly be in Fidget's future, as we try to get all of her issues under control.
In the meantime, this 8-year-old firecracker has quickly established herself as the HBIC of her foster home. She technically knows how to sit, stay, and come, but she considers those suggestions more than commands. Fidget immediately made it be known that she loves car rides, hates cats, and does not want anyone, human or canine, anywhere near her food bowl (we'll be working on that). She is a tug-o-war champion and connoisseur of chase, and when playtime is through, Fidget enjoys relaxing in front of the TV with a nice bone. She is also very good at giving and receiving kisses to that cute little face!
There are few certainties in life, but one of them is that Fidget's vet bills are going to be high. So we are humbly passing around the hat and asking our friends and supporters to drop in a dollar or twenty. It is thanks to your generosity that we are able to give dogs like Fidget the medical care they need. And Fidget will be sure to thank you will a snuffle and snort of gratitude!
For poor baby Fidget..it's not much but you're in the right place for lots of love and attention for your boos. Get well quickly! Denise B
