Addie has a heart murmur, 3 on a scale of 1-5. Her foster mom says it does not affect her energy or personality.

Addie lived her first few years in a puppy mill, but she’s learned very quickly how to live as a pet that is part of a family. She’s a wonderful dog that has never met a stranger, and is ready to give all her love to anyone who will give her even the tiniest bit of attention.

This sweet little girl is looking for a special adoptive family that has a heart big enough to take on a dog that has some health issues that may scare off most applicants. She has six cell mast tumors, and one was recently removed. While this revealed a type of cancer, it is not necessarily a death sentence, and Addie may have several years left to love and be loved with her very own family. At this point, the oncologist believes her remaining tumors should not be removed, since it is likely that they will grow back, or new ones may form. She was also diagnosed with a grade 3 heart murmur (the range is 1 to 5), but this does not affect her energy level at all.

Currently, she is in good health and runs around like she has no intention of going anywhere other than her forever home anytime soon.

Addie likes cats, kids, and absolutely loves other dogs, so ideally her new home would include a play buddy. However, she’s not a fan of birds, and she’s tried having the resident bird in her foster home for lunch.

While Addie has not had formal training, she has good manners and is neither jumpy nor pushy. She’s mostly housebroken, though she has had pee accidents on her bed before.

Addie would adjust to most living situations with no problem because she’s such an easygoing dog. After spending such a long part of her life completely neglected, she’d really like to join a family where she will have constant contact with her people. Whether that means that she gets to go to work with someone, join a couple that works alternating schedules, or gets a stay home parent it would all be just fine with Addie.

She is not a barker, so she’d do great in a house or apartment. A fenced yard would be nice but is not required. Her current setup allows her access to a doggy door which she uses whenever she needs a break outside.

Here’s a word from her foster mom:

Addie is the sweetest dog ever. She loves to sit in your lap and give kisses. She had a hard life and is a little worse for wear. She had been bred many times and has some sagging issues. It does not slow her down. I cannot stress how sweet she is. She gets along with every person, dog and cat she meets. She is a lover. I will miss her when she finds her forever home.

If you’re ready to offer your home to this wonderful dog please apply for her. When it’s time to pick her up, come hungry to fill up on barbecue,as Addie is located in Texas and will not be shipped.
