Whether you prefer Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier or the suave, white jacket-wearing star of Miami Vice, Crockett is happy to play whichever role you’d like. He is one heckuva sweet guy, and he lives to make his people happy. So be it Western wilderness or beautiful beaches, Crockett’s your man.

FBRN celebrated with great fanfare when Crockett was adopted by a truly perfect family last year. We wept for joy when we saw his happy holiday photos just a short while ago. Then, in a wicked twist of fate Crockett’s family found out that their little girl, who adored him, is severely allergic to dogs – so all of the family pets including Crockett had to go. This was a heartbreaking decision, but FBRN is glad to help and welcome Crockett once more.

Crockett is a snuggly little dude who follows his foster mommy around all day long. His one true need is to be sitting in a lap whenever possible. He loves people and can’t get enough of their company. When he senses that his people will be leaving him alone, his big eyes get a pleading look. He cannot be crated and will piddle from the anxiety. His current foster mom keeps him diapered when she must leave, though the resident dogs make sport of helping him out of his drawers. Rescue Remedy has shown some promise in reducing the degree of his anxiety. The perfect home for him will be one where there is a stay-at-home person or he can go to work. If he could go to work, he would sleep quiet as can be right under your desk.

Crockett has yet to meet a little kid he didn’t adore. He slept with the two year old in his first foster home, was a beloved children’s pet in his first adoptive home, and now can’t get enough of rambunctious hugs and kisses from a fifteen month old youngster in his current foster home. If he could have another little child for his very own, he would be so proud and happy. So far, Crockett has gotten along swimmingly with other dogs, and once even tried to engage a cat in play (undoubtedly much to the cat’s chagrin.)

Crockett is a handsome frog with a sparkle in his eye. His health is remarkably good considering that at the time of his original surrender he was ravaged by heartworm, had skin infections, a tumor in his mouth, symptoms of trachea collapse and horrid teeth. Today, he is in remarkably good condition. His coat glows and he has been symptom free for quite some time. He is missing a few teeth, but that doesn’t bother him at all. His weight is perfect and he loves to eat! He will always need to be kept on heartworm prevention and get very regular check-ups to make sure all is okay.

The perfect home for Crockett would be filled with loving people who like to give tummy rubs and take their special friend on car rides. Strong preference will be given to applicants who can be home with Crockett during the day. He would also make an excellent go-to-work dog, so that would be lovely, too. Although Crockett doesn’t require a fenced yard, he’ll need to be on lead when outside, as he may wander off.

Crockett is just a wonderful boy, as evidenced by the glowing report from his current foster mom: “Crockett is a perfect family dog, easygoing and fairly lazy. He sleeps a lot with his sweet tongue sticking out. At a local dog park he was independent as well as friendly with other dogs. He walks well on a leash, but is a little slow. He rides well in the car too. Two or three times a day, he gets some pep to his step and face-fights with my Frenchies.”

“We have a bench at the end of the bed with a feather comforter and three dog beds. This is where he usually sleeps at night. However when you are sleeping soundly or are in the shower, he sneaks in the bed telling us that this is where he belongs!”

“The perfect family for Crockett will be one where he can be with his person, at home or at work, at least ninety-five percent of the time. Human bed privileges are preferred. A fenced yard is not an absolute necessity, but he would enjoy having one so he could explore. Other dogs should not boss him around – he has been through a lot and needs a lot of TLC. He has been the perfect first foster for me and my family!”

If you’re ready to have a heapin’ helpin’ of love coming 'atcha, apply for Crockett now. He is being fostered in North Carolina and will not be shipped.
