Daizy Mae is the mama of FBRN’s new puppies you’ve seen on the front page of the website and on the Frog Princess blog recently. She doesn’t know she and her little herd are famous, and she certainly has no interest in her own reality t.v. show. No, all Daizy needs is a loving home in which to enjoy her retirement from breeding once her puppies have been weaned and are ready for homes of their own. It will be a little while before she is ready to leave them, but we thought we’d get a jump on our search for her forever home. Could it be yours? Daizy Mae was surrendered with her littermate, reportedly due to financial burdens. In her former home Daizy Mae and her brother had a dalliance and when she arrived in rescue she was very, very pregnant! She is healthy but will need to be spayed once the puppies are weaned and she has recovered a bit from the stress of child-rearing. Daizy Mae’s adoption will come with a spay contract agreement attached, obligating her forever people to have her spayed as soon as she is ready.

A lovelier, calmer mother can’t be found anywhere. Daizy Mae takes great care of her pups and is mellow about everything (as long as the other dogs don’t come into the puppy area – she shows them the door like the good mother she is.) She has always shared her home with other dogs and canine company suits her very well. She is a bit alpha in terms of personality and she can get a little snarky with other dogs around her food dish, so feeding her separately is a good idea.

A naturally motherly type, Daizy Mae love kids and humankind in general. She enjoys living with 11 & 13 year old children in foster care. She can hear small children next door and seems very interested in being with them, too. Daizy Mae loves to be held, even by children and she doesn’t display any hesitation or shyness around the younger set. Even with her puppies she is fine with having the children see and handle them gently.

When she is not busy caring for her pups Daizy Mae likes to play with the other dogs and scamper a bit in the backyard. She has a lovely sort of energy about her – not too busy, not too lazy. Daizy Mae is jussssst right. She loves to sit on the couch and watch TV with her people and doesn’t show much interest in toys. She really loves to stay close, and is a teeny bit needy in that regard. “ I NEED MY PEOPLE, people!”

Daizy Mae is housebroken and crate trained though she hasn’t spent much time in the crate since coming into rescue due to her “family situation”. We don’t know about obedience training, but she is an easy keeper and is naturally very eager to please.

We would love to place Daizy Mae in a home where someone is home a good part of the day or can take her to work with them. She really is happiest when she is spending time with her folks. Kids - dogs - all great for Daizy Mae, though as long as she gets enough attention from her person she would do well as an “only” too. No need for Frenchie experience with this one, as she is healthy and well adjusted. A fenced yard would be great if you live in a house. She will wander if allowed. Daizy could also live happily in a townhome or apartment with nice leash walks and a friendly dog park nearby.

“Daizy Mae has been through a lot in that we think she has been pregnant at least four times. She needs a home where she can be loved and free from having litters. She is very loving and potty trained. She looks into your eyes and you can see that all she wants is to be with people. She loves having her belly rubbed and would be fine if someone could do that all day! She is not picky about her humans and is happy to sit with anyone. There is something special about her and it is obvious to everyone who meets her. Her tiger brindle color is very attractive and her fur is so soft that she is a treasure to touch.
