Darci and her sister were purchased from a questionable breeder by a good Samaritan who wanted these girls to have a better life. They were surrendered lovingly to FBRN so that they could receive the proper care and find loving homes where they will be cherished pets. For Darci, the time has come, and we couldn’t be happier for this doll baby to find her new place. She is a shy and timid girl, but once you have gained her trust she is a loyal and loving companion who wants nothing more than to be with you.
Darci does have a medical history that her potential adopters need to be aware of. She has been treated for mast cell cancer. While this should not have any permanent effects, it is possible that Darci may develop new lumps or bumps that will need to be checked out. It's important that her new owners are willing to be vigilant in case there is a recurrence. Darci also has a history of chronic ear infections, most likely related to allergies. Her ears are currently under control, and a good diet and careful use of Benadryl have controlled the problem. Basically, Darci is a healthy, happy dog, but her history requires that she be observed closely.
Darci is a bit timid and will need time to adjust to her new surroundings and the routine of her new home. However, once she adjusts she will be a lovebug and will be the happiest cuddling with her person. She is normally very quiet, but when she goes outside she becomes very animated and loves to bark, run, and jump. She is still learning that jumping up on her person is not the most appropriate way to get attention. Sometimes it’s just tough when a girl gets that happy! For that reason, Darci’s ideal home would have a fenced in yard where she can run, roll in the grass, and have a wonderful time just being a Frenchie.
Darci is crate-trained, although if her person were home while she was crated, her clear preference would be to come close and cuddle. She does sleep in a crate without any protest. Darci currently goes out to potty every 2-3 hours, with no problems. She would also be a fabulous companion at work, and once she learns the work routine, she would make a happy assistant for some lucky person!
The best thing in Darci’s world is spending time with her people. She thinks Nylabones are great, and she also enjoys chasing critters, but people time is the best! Because she does have a high prey drive, all lizards and butterflies in the area must beware! Darci is ready for a good chase. Loud noises frighten Darci, so she would do best in a quiet household without small children. Respectful children over 12 would be okay, but she also can get excited and might knock over a small child. Darci’s new home will need to be aware that because of her past, new things can be scary and intimidating. She will need patience and understanding, as well as someone who is committed to helping her gain confidence so she can blossom into her best self.
Darci’s adoring foster mom has this to say about her: "Darci is such a sweet girl, who wants nothing more than to be loved by her person. It is hard to believe that a dog who had such a rough start could turn out to be such a lovebug. She loves any attention she can get, and is very content to cuddled up at your side on the sofa, or lie at your feet while you work. She is going to make someone a loyal companion."
Darci is being fostered in Texas and will not be shipped. Put in your application now for the love of a lifetime.
