DENIM HAS A BITE HISTORY
Have you considered updating your fall wardrobe with a new style of denim? No need to wait for designer recommendations! We’ve got the perfect addition in a pied print and he’s available now!
Denim was an owner surrender due to allergies and his inability to peacefully coexist with the resident child in his previous home.
Unfortunately, allergies are not foreign to Frenchies, and Denim’s foster mom has been working diligently to get his under control. She is still in the process of finding the magical combo of food and/or meds that will work for Denim. Experienced or first time Frenchie owners would be fine for Denim as long as they are aware of the high maintenance that allergies entail. Denim’s forever home should be patient with his allergies and be willing to invest the time and money he will require in getting them under control and maintained.
Just as some jeans are inappropriate for the younger set, our Denim is happiest around more mature folk. He is submissive and tentative when meeting new people, but more so with children. In his former home, he was reported to have bitten a child and broken the skin “when pushed to his limit.” Denim also nipped at his foster dad when he was being stopped from scratching his own face. Outside of those two incidents, Denim has been a sweet lovebug with absolutely no food or toy aggression. However, due to the biting incident with the child, we feel that Denim would be happiest in an adult only household or one with calm, respectful, older teenagers.
Denim has had some basic obedience training. Because he is nervous around new people, his forever family should be dedicated to continuing his socialization.
What Denim may lack in some people skills he makes up tenfold in other areas! He loves other dogs and he is dedicated to his person. He’s very well-adjusted and not at all needy. He will do well in a forever home with other dogs to romp and wrassle with, but will also do fine as an only furkid. He’s mostly a couch Frenchie but does enjoy getting out on a daily walk. He’s not too interested in toys but will occasionally play with a stuffie.
Denim is both housebroken and crate trained! What a guy!
Denim hasn’t been exposed to cats inside his foster home and barks madly at them when they pass on the outside. Due to this uncertainty, Denim will not be placed in a home with kitties.
Any sort of living arrangement would suit Denim’s personality. A fenced yard, while not necessary, would be preferable as Denim is a discreet frog who enjoys his privacy while on potty breaks. Denim does not use the bathroom while on lead, but he’s a smart boy and his foster mom feels he could adjust. Any potential forever family without a fenced yard should be patient and realize the potential for housebreaking accidents during Denim’s transition to leash walking.
A stay at home person who was around most of the day would be ideal for Denim if in a single dog household. Otherwise, a person who works and could offer him a mid-day break would be reasonable. Denim may not be an ideal office dog due to his nervousness with new people. With the proper socialization he may reach that level in time, but it would depend on the office environment.
Here are a few words from Denim’s foster mom: Denim is the sweetest love-bug. He wants nothing more than to be curled up next to you and be loved on. He really loves to snuggle in bed and is happy to stay right at the bottom, making him the perfect bed-mate! He really enjoys going out for walks, but nothing too strenuous as he gets tired pretty quick, especially when it is warm. Denim is always smiling the cutest Frenchie smile and loves to get lots of belly-rubs in response!
If you’re thinking you need a super snuggly bed-mate to warm you on these chilly fall nights, why not turn down the heat and apply for Denim? Be ready to take a trip and check out all the fall foliage, because Denim is in North Carolina and he won’t be shipped!
