PLEASE READ THE ARTICLE ON ADOPTING A PUPPY MILL DOG BEFORE APPLYING FOR FRANCY

Francy, aka Prancy Paws, has spent her time in foster care perfecting her feeding time prance and dance routine and is ready to take her show on the road. Francy is a mature lady, 6 years-old and a puppy mill survivor. She has come so far since being bought by a Good Samaritan and turned over to FBRN. Prior to living her current life of luxury, Francy spent her entire 5 years in a crate. She does have splayed paws from living on a wire floor, lost 60% of her hearing due to untreated ear infections and had to have dental work done resulting in the loss of some teeth (she only has 14 left.) However, good food, good vet care and an awful lot of love and kindness from her foster home has resulted in a happy and healthy frog.

This girl is still getting used to life in a house. As a result of her hearing loss, she should be approached slowly until she knows you are there. We think older, dog-savvy kids would be best for her so she isn’t startled. Francy loves dogs and must go to a home where she will have at least 1 canine companion. She takes many of her cues from the other dogs in her household and relies on them to help her figure out routines, as well as for a little bit of Frenchie wrassling. Cats are ok with her.

Francy is a laid-back, complacent Frenchie. She loves a gentle stroll around the neighborhood but doesn’t need much excitement. She is quite healthy now, with no residual medical problems from her years in the mill. She has been spayed and had her nares fixed. Her lack of teeth doesn’t slow her down and she eats a kibble dog food and enjoys her Nylabones. She enjoys sleeping on all of the available soft surfaces in her foster home; she’s making up for lost time. She is working on housebreaking, but like many mill dogs, it is a work in progress. Her forever home will have to be vigilant in keeping her on a schedule. She has great house manners and no bad habits. She is crate trained and settles in well, especially if a treat is involved. She has had not formal obedience training but knows the hand signals for 'come' and 'no'.

Francy has a heart of gold, and only wants to please her people. A little bit of love and companionship goes a long way with this frog. Going to work with this girl would be ok with her, or a stay at home family would be great too. A dog walker would be necessary to help Francy continue with her housebreaking, and we wouldn’t want to see her crated all day after spending 5 years in one. She has escaped her foster home yard, so we prefer a secure fenced yard for her.

Francy is a mellow kind of dog. She is happy being with her people and her canine siblings. She enjoys napping with you and will snuggle up with you as long as you want to. She is slowly learning about life outside a cage, and she likes what she sees. She is looking for a forever family that will continue on this journey with her. She has a lot of love to share, and many wonderful years to share them with.

If you think you are the family for Francy, please fill out an application for her. She will be reviewing them while snuggled in her fleecy blanket considering her Halloween costume for this year.

Plan on picking her up in person in Michigan as she will not be shipped.
