Believe it or not, precious Hardee came into FBRN when he was found as a stray and brought to a local shelter. The shelter contacted us, and we happily brought him into the FBRN family. After being in the loving care of his foster home, Hardee was able to iron out a few of his wrinkles and is now ready to find a forever home! But beware, Hardee demands a lot of hugs and kisses, so you must be willing to comply if you’d like to have him in your life.

Since getting a little bit of demodectic mange sorted out, Hardee has zero health issues to speak of. He’s just a happy, healthy, bouncing Frenchie one-year-old who’s ready for action. He seems to love just everybody—people, dogs, and cats alike. He plays nicely with a female German shepherd and male cairn terrier in his foster home, and he pretty much pretends that the female shih-tzu isn’t there. Now, it must be noted, that like many a young pup, Hardee has a bit of the brat in him. He can be a little dominant towards other dogs because he’s still working on his social skills. That means the dogs he lives with must be happy, balanced pooches who won’t take an uppity youngun too seriously. Of course, it’s all just so darn cute that you can’t help but laugh, but Hardee could use some strong leadership to make sure his youthful antics don’t turn into adult issues. Because of his lack of social skills, any introductions to new animals must be done slowly and mindfully. Hardee doesn’t make the best first impression, getting a little too big for his britches and having a tendency to fence fight or have a tantrum over other dogs. Once he’s settled and introductions are done well, he’s a happy camper with his doggie buddies. Hardee would be pleased as punch to be the only dog in his new home, though, and that would probably be ideal.

Hardee is housebroken and crate trained, and he knows quite a few commands. So far, he’s very competent with sit, stay, outside, inside, here to me, leave it, fetch, and no. Not bad, eh? His foster mom is always working with him on “down,” so he might have even more talents by the time his goes to his new home. Hardee’s ideal home would be a house with a fenced yard or an apartment where his owners would take him for long walks. He needs the kind of brain work that continued obedience would provide, so it would be great if his new parents were willing to do that. He can go for several hours in a crate if his people need to work, but a mid-day break would be ideal to make sure he doesn’t have any accidents. He would love to be a “go to work” pup, but if there were other dogs in the workplace, introductions must be done carefully. Hardee might also need a baby gate to keep him close since he is a curious young man. Hardee would be an excellent first-time Frenchie, as he doesn’t have some of the common Frenchie issues. He’s just a lover boy, needing some rules and lots and lots of love.

His foster mom thinks Hardee is the bomb, and describes him like this: "Hardee is a true lover...lap time is a must. He lives to find things to bring to his beloved. He is still very much a puppy and needs to be growing up in a real home and not a foster home. Hardee lives to be the center of attention, he's a real clown and cut-up. He is a talker and not much of a barker - he has made sounds that I have never heard from a dog. I think he is trying to learn how to talk; he just looks like he has something to say. Kisses would like to be done hourly and toes need to be covered. If he can not get kisses from you, he will take it out on your toes."

If Hardee sounds like the right mix of spunky energy, silly antics, and love, love, love for you, put in an application now. He is being fostered in Arkansas and will not be shipped.
