Indy is available on a "foster to adopt" contract. Please read the document before applying for her.
Indy was meant to be a gift, but the gift recipients weren't ready for the demands of a little puppy. We are so glad they surrendered Indy to us!
Indy is a healthy little girl, and she's just delightful. She LOVES her toys, her foster Frenchie siblings, and most of all, her people. She hasn't had any training yet, but she is getting very good about going into her crate for short periods. She is beginning to see it as her safe haven. She is still a puppy, and at four months old, her bladder capacity and sphincter control isn't what it will be when she is older. She must have regular outings to continue reinforcing her foster family's early lessons. Right now, she uses a dog door relatively reliably. However, being a puppy, she will get caught up in playing and "forget" to go out. Result: tinkles.
Indy is curious about cats, and she lives with a pet chinchilla which she would like to get to know more intimately, it appears. We believe it is an innocent curiosity, but Indy is a bully breed, and her true degree of prey drive may not yet have manifested itself. However, we think she should be ok with dog-savvy kitties, as she is quite young and could learn to leave them alone.
In terms of her energy level, Indy is a puppy, so she has two speeds: On and Off. Her foster mom says she is a clingy little girl and always likes to be very near her person. She's a snuggle bunny with her people, but can be pushy with other dogs, and any playtime must be supervised, because things can escalate quickly to a scuffle. Her foster mom thinks she will be an alpha!
In terms of a forever family, we are looking for someone who can be with her all day, whether at home or at work. She does whine if left in her crate for longer than she likes, so a detached family home would probably be best if she must be crated. We would like a home with a dog door for her, if that's possible, because that's what she is accustomed to. A fenced yard would be perfect because she likes to tan her tummy outside on mild, sunny days.
Here are some final words from Indy's foster mom: "Indy is a very special puppy. She is so perfect in so many ways. All those who have met her have fallen in love with her. She does attach herself to her caregiver and really does need to be with someone who can give her the attention she needs and deserves. That attention will be rewarding with a very devoted little love bug for many years to come."
Indy is swiping stuffies from sleepy, slow, old frogs in Virginia. Bring plenty when you come to fetch her, because she will not be shipped! Please read the foster to adopt contract before you apply for her.
