FBRN’s resident self-proclaimed bad boy is ready to find his forever family. Ladoo is a very handsome 8 year-old neutered male. He is a retired show dog who, in his former life, believed that he should be the one to give the orders. He was a show dog after all! There is some rumor that Ladoo may have bitten, but while in foster care; his dog-savvy foster parents have not seen any incidents.

Ladoo is an enigma of a frog. He likes you to think he is a tough guy, quite capable of being in charge, but we know better. Underneath that gruff exterior is a big mush of a frog. His foster dad says he is a very loving dog, occasionally wanting to play and nibble on his person’s ear, but it has to be on his terms only. He is not a dog for kids and would prefer a quieter household. Ladoo needs a person who is in charge so that he knows it is not his job to be the decision maker or ruler of the house. Once Ladoo understands this, he settles in very well. Ladoo’s foster family will be more than happy to explain Ladoo’s quirks and needs to his forever family.

Ladoo is healthy although he does have some history of back issues. He has not experienced any recent problems while in foster care, as he has been maintaining his weight and going for daily walks. He would most likely benefit from chiropractic visits in the future.

Ladoo needs a quiet home, low on the excitement level. Absolutely no cats, unless they are served for lunch. He would do best as an only dog. He does not like other dogs to enter his space. Small children, likewise, are not in Ladoo’s future. Older dog savvy teenagers who know when to leave him alone would be ok.

Although you may think Ladoo has a lot of “issues”, he is a very fun and loving dog to have around. He enjoys playing ball, another one of those frog-trievers we see every once in a while, he loves to play with his nyla-bones and he has yet to meet a stuffie that cannot be subdued! He also enjoys a good game of tug of war. Ladoo enjoys a good swim with a life jacket, especially now that summer is approaching. He enjoys his daily walks, although he does not care to visit the dog park. He needs to be leashed on his walks, and a fenced yard is required.

Ladoo has wonderful house manners. He is 100% housebroken and loves his crate. He has had some basic obedience training, although like any frog he can develop selective hearing when you least expect it.

Ladoo is not a very good leader; he is a much better show dog. His forever family will have to be committed to maintaining that balance in his new home. Ladoo needs to know that someone else is quite capable of making the decisions for the family and is in fact making those decisions. Once he understands this, he is a relaxed, happy couch frog. He loves to spend time with his people and while he is trustworthy when left alone, he would really rather be with YOU! He would be able to adjust to office life as long as no other dogs worked there. Conversely, a dog walker would also be a good option for him.

Ladoo’s foster dad has this to say:
“Ladoo is an awesome companion who can be comical and silly. His greatest need is a strong pack leader to show him the way. He likes to have rules and a structured environment with regular walks, meals and such. He does not like a lot of excitement especially from children or people who want to baby talk to him and try to love him up. That is not his style. Sure he loves getting loved up and affection but only when he is ready for it.

This very handsome ex-show dog likes to follow his person around everywhere, especially if you go to the kitchen, and prefers to sit close but usually not on top of you. He’s happy sitting at the opposite end of the couch but doesn’t want to be too far away.

He is great company in the car and will sit nicely in the passenger seat sometimes jumping up to look out the side window. On long trips he catches up on his sleep. When Ladoo is out he LOVES going places and even struts right into the vets and is very loving there”.
