Louie Louie is a healthy young Frenchie who was sadly and lovingly relinquished by his former family due to housebreaking issues. In foster care, conscientious training and the use of a dog door has resulted in a much-improved Louie! (Applicants should still expect the occasional accident, especially in the initial adjustment period.)

In foster care Louie lives with other dogs and for the most part doesn’t care for them much! The exception is a big old bulldog who is very nonchalant about his people and doesn’t follow them around for attention. Louie is not jealous of him and they get along great. He resents the other dogs’ tendency to divert attention away from him and he will also guard his toys and food against these “interlopers”. He will do best as an only dog or with another mellow, self-sufficient friend. No cats, please.

Louie has a tendency to burn off nervous calories and is prone to itchy hot spots. Since coming into foster care, he has been on The Honest Kitchen food and has put on needed weight. Since he has been on this food he no longer itches, and has not had a hot spot either.

Louie is afraid of children.

It’s pretty simple, really. Louie just wants to be with his person. He is great with women but has some fear issues with men. In foster care the man of the house worked hard to win Louie’s trust, and won it. It didn’t take long before he was sleeping curled up next to his foster dad and walking up to him without fear, though he still prefers to be picked up by The Lady. Louie loves toys and he will play for hours with squeakies. He doesn’t walk too far because he overheats rather quickly, but certainly gets his exercise running around the house! He enjoys following The Lady, sitting next to her, cuddling up on the couch with foster mom and dad and sleeping in the people bed.

Louie hasn’t had any obedience training but we think it would be very good for him and would help him build confidence. To start we think private sessions with a woman trainer would yield the quickest and most positive results. Louie is not happy in a crate.

Someone who works from home or is home part time would be perfect for Louie. He wouldn’t be a good prospect to take to work, and might have difficulty adjusting to a dog walker. Louie needs a house with a fenced yard and a dog door.

Louie Louie’s foster mom has given him the nickname “Chewy” because he chews almost everything, (except the furniture, thank goodness!) He chewed the collars around the other dogs’ necks, the handles on the windows, the leaves and twigs in the yard and he will even chew your fingers in play. These are bad habits his foster parents have worked hard to break and so far they have been very successful.

Here are some words from Louie Louie’s foster mama:

“I am looking for an adult home only, specifically a person or couple who have grown adult kids or no kids at all. Louie needs a quiet home and patient people who will help him with his fears and possible accidents in the house. (He is great about going potty outside, but has an occasional accident.) He needs to sleep in the bed with his humans; he is so cuddly and can’t wait for bedtime. This sweet boy wants to be the center of attention, and if you have a dog already, your dog will need to let Louie have all the attention. He gets along with the dogs in my home, but snaps at the ones who like to be right by my side. Louie has the most amazing brindle markings I have ever seen on a Frenchie. He is compact, cute, likes to wear shirts, and is the perfect size to pick up, carry and cuddle on a lap. He just wants to be someone’s special baby.”
