Macy May was surrendered to FBRN by her owner, who had kept Macy crated 10-12 hours a day. Although her former owner claimed Macy May was not housetrained, she has not had one accident in her foster home. As soon as she saw the other dogs using the doggie door, she immediately started using it and knew exactly when she needed to go out to potty. However, Macy May gets very nervous about being crated and she will pee in her crate. We would love to find her a forever home where she didn’t need to be crated ever again.

Macy May is only 20 months old, and quite healthy, so she loves to run and play. She gets excited when anyone grabs a stuffed toy and will play until she runs out of steam. She loves to race in and out and explore the yard. Macy May will need a family who can see to it that she gets plenty of exercise and time for fun. Given her history of being crated so much, she deserves lots of play time. Macy May loves kids, but is too bouncy for little ones. The resident kids in her foster home are 10, 12, and 15. She is thrilled each day when the kids get home from school. She loves to play with them.

After an initial adjustment, Macy May gets along great with the resident dogs in her foster home. Macy May can be a little bossy when it comes to getting attention, so it would be best for her to have laid-back, easygoing dogs as her housemates. Macy May will try to steal food from the other dogs at dinner time, but she quickly stops when corrected. She is not aggressive, just greedy. Macy May loves Nylabones and stuffed toys. She is very playful and loves to race around the yard. She is a very speedy little girl. She really enjoys "hanging out" with the resident dogs. When they nap on the bed, she is with them. When they go outside to sun on the deck, she is right there too. Macy May would really enjoy the company of another dog. A playful, easygoing friend would be great. She has not been with cats, so we will say no just for kitty safety.

Macy May is such a sweet girl, she would do great with most any type of family. She loves children and adults alike. We would prefer someone who is at home most of the time or is able to take her along with them in their travels. She deserves a home that has plenty of time for her. She is not destructive and we think she would behave just fine when her family has to leave. She is the kind of dog that will curl up and sleep until her family returns. Because she has done so well with the doggie door, our first preference will be for a home with a doggie door and fenced yard. Macy might do well in other situations where someone was around to exercise her frequently.

Macy would love to stay at home all day with someone or learn to be an office dog. She is a little nervous in the car, but if she was taken for regular rides, she would adjust quickly to riding. She needs as much love as her people can give her after being left alone so much.

Her foster Mom says, “Macy May is such a sweet girl. She is always excited to play with our kids or go for a run around the yard. She loves our dogs and has great doggie manners. She learns very quickly and always tries to please us. Macy May enjoys laying on soft, fleece blankets. She really seems to appreciate all the attention she is getting. She has been a such a joy to have in our home, we love her like she is our own. She is a comical little frog, we want her to have the loving family that she deserves!”

Macy May is running in and out of her doggie door in Maryland, and she will not be shipped.
