Marky Mark was popular and attractive a few years ago, and here at FBRN we think he got even better with time. This 10 year-old gentleman has plenty of energy left and has confidence that attracts both people and dogs alike. He’s a male that knows what he likes, and luckily that includes most things in life. He co-exists peacefully with the resident dogs in his foster home and enjoys spending quality time with his people, and when possible catching a nap in sunny spot of the house.

It’s hard to imagine that someone gave up on this boy, but he was brought into a shelter as a stray. He had quite a few medical ailments, including bladder stones, an ear infection and terribly sore inflamed paws. He had a lifesaving surgery to get rid of the stones, and his foster mom has worked diligently to make sure he’s a healthy boy again.

Nonetheless, Marky Marks’ bladder and urine ph levels will have to be monitored and tested every few months to ensure that he is not forming new crystals that will clump into bladder stones. He will also require a somewhat restricted diet to help manage the crystals.

Though his paws have healed well, they will need to be monitored to make sure there are no new injuries forming. He enjoys walks twice a day, but the distance should be increased gradually to avoid causing new bruising.

Marky Mark enjoys the simple things in life like a certain slant of light coming through the window. He likes to pick up his nap mat all by himself and drags it to any sunny spot he can find, where he enjoys a nap until it’s time to wake up and move the mat again. He also loves playing by himself with his toy ball or munching on a Nylabone.

He’ll wake up out of a dead sleep if he hears the leash signaling the afternoon walk. And he gets excited at the sight of car keys because he just loves jumping into doggy carseat and being the co-pilot.

He is currently living with 3 dogs in his foster home and likes them all, though he’s had the need to discipline the puppy by giving him a firm “woof” when the little one was getting too rowdy. His foster mom describes him as assertive without having to exhibit the bossiness of other alpha Frenchies. He also likes sniffing the resident kitty every now and then, but otherwise just leaves him alone. He has not been around children, but with his calm demeanor we believe he’d be great around children who are 6 years or older.

Marky is housebroken and crate trained, but he has not had any formal obedience training. He’s food motivated and would love going through an obedience course with his forever family.

Ideally, Marky Mark would like a family where at least one person is around to spend lots of time with him and be able to take him on potty outings every few hours to maintain a healthy bladder. This would mean a stay at home or work part-time parent, or perhaps a job where he could come along as well.

Apartment, condo and/or house living would suit him just fine, though access to a fenced yard or deck to enjoy the afternoon sun is must.

Marky Mark is ready to cuddle with his forever family. If you feel he may be the right dog for you, please submit an application and let us know why he’s the guy. Be ready to make a trip to Pennsylvania where he is being fostered, as he will not be shipped.
