“When you wish upon a star makes no difference who you are, anything your heart desires will come to you”—Harline and Washington

Reva is a sweet, spotted Frenchie who has been wishing and hoping for her dreams to come true. Her heart’s desire is a forever home where she will be cherished and safe for the rest of her days. A stellar girl, she is a retired breeder who has overcome numerous obstacles on her journey to realize her dream. Every day her star burns a little brighter and she delights her foster mom with her progress.

Early in her foster days, Reva was timid and reluctant to venture forth. Now she beats her foster mom to the door and sticks her nose in the opening, eager for new adventures. She turns to her foster mom and Frenchie snorts, “What’s taking so long, COME ON!” A frog on a mission, she trots to the end of the driveway looking for a neighbor or dog to talk to.

Inexplicably, Reva has decided that she really likes the big dogs she encounters on her walks. Her new BFF is a Labradoodle puppy twice her size. Not fearful at all, Reva sniffed her nose from afar and then walked right up, little tail a-waggle. Oh, how proud we are of Reva!

Snuggly cute, Reva loves pampering belly rubs while watching TV. Another of her favorite things is riding in the car. She is the first one up and waiting at the door at the mention of an outing. A little shy at first, with some patience she will quickly become the nicest companion a person could ever want.

Lucky stars were indeed shining on Reva recently. By chance, she had a minor injury in her right eye and when she went to the ophthalmologist for treatment a tiny bump was discovered on her eyelid. Testing showed that the bump was cancerous and subsequently her eye was removed surgically. Her doctor, an excellent surgeon, feels confident that because the cancer was discovered and treated so early it will not return. Reva is adapting to the loss of her eye and looks beautiful still. The dark fur on her face is another soft, sweet spot to kiss.

Reva is enjoying a no-carbohydrate raw diet as extra insurance to prevent the cancer’s reoccurring. Her forever home must be committed to sticking with this plan. All the information and support needed will be provided by her foster parents. She also has a little cleaning routine to maintain. One of her nipples is inverted and has to be wiped a couple of times a day. Her teeth aren’t the best, and her foster parents use dental wipes on them. In time, she will probably need dental surgery but another procedure right now is not advised. Last, her little hips and back are not put together exactly right so she will never run a marathon or be your fly-ball pal. She does need regular exercise, though, to stay active and strong.

Reva’s dream home is a warm place, with experienced dog people who will love and understand her. It would be best for her back and hips if it were a one story with minimal stairs and a door opening to a nice yard for exploration and leisurely potty breaks. A neighborhood with friendly dogs and people she can meet gradually would help her continue to grow and look forward to her walks.

Craving attention from her people, Reva needs a stay-at-home person or could go to work in the right job environment without too much boisterous activity. For the times when she is home alone, she can stay in a large crate or ex-pen with only occasional accidents. Because of her limited vision, the quick actions of younger children make her nervous. But, she would be a sweet companion for a considerate, older teen. Good news for the felines, Reva likes them just fine.

Reva’s foster mom has devoted a great deal of time and love to preparing her for the exciting big world outside. She tells us, “Reva is a little lovebug and will make a great companion. She is still learning to be a family dog and her forever family will need to continue helping her with her growth.”

“Reva will need to go to a family that has the patience and willingness to continue with her training and raw diet. I would give them all the information we have about the form of cancer she had and what the diet does to help her. I would always be there to help with questions about the raw diet and the best ways to get the food they need for her.”

If you listen very carefully, you can hear Jiminy Cricket singing Reva’s special song. She’s humming along and waiting for the best car ride of her life to her wonderful new home. Reva is in Florida, the Magic Kingdom state, and will not be shipped.
