There is something about Tonka that just makes you smile. Tonka came from a breeder that was downsizing and spent his foster time learning about life in the house: soft couches with pillows, small people with Cheerios, and belly rubs with lots of “good boy” murmurs sprinkled in. He is a very sweet, gentle, and calm dog that has occasional bursts of silly play.
Tonka is quite healthy. His only minor problem is that his teeth are quite worn so he needs small breed dog food. Since coming to FBRN he has lost 4 pounds and his family jewels, and hasn’t missed either. He is housebroken, crate-trained and is good with cats, dogs and kids. Tonka isn't going to be a dog that is going to want to play with them constantly. He prefers to be a companion or nap buddy.
Tonka could fit into most families. First time Frenchie owners are ok as long they understand he does not like raised voices or harsh speaking. His new family must allow him on the couch as it is his favorite place. He loves being with his people, but doesn't like a lot of activity going on. Tonka loves ALL toys, but isn't really wild with them. He likes to completely empty the toy box one by one, testing them all out. His favorites are the squeaky bee, croaking frog and football. He does not like leash walking but loves running in the fenced yard. He also loves rolling on his back in the grass.
Tonka would love to be with someone all day and would be a perfect office dog. On the rare occasions that he needs correction, a simple “no” does the job. He just wants to please his people and snuggle with them in a soft place.
His foster mom says, “Tonka deserves the perfect home. He has been nothing but sweet the entire time we have had him. He came here scared and not knowing how to eat food from a bowl. He wanted to be picked up and carried everywhere. He adapted to life as a "house dog" and never looked back. His personality came out slowly and now it shines. We would keep him in a heartbeat.”
Tonka is being fostered in Iowa and will not be shipped.
