Is Yonita not the prettiest Frenchie you’ve ever laid eyes on? This fawn beauty has a shiny, healthy coat, huge come-hither eyes and a face to die for.

They say that every rose has its thorns and Yonita is no exception. In fact, those thorns are the very reason she was surrendered by her former owner. A typical Frenchie girl, bossy to a fault and unwilling to let other siblings have their way, Miss Yonita was too assertive with the dogs in her former home. Through much dedicated work on the part of her foster mom, Yonita has learned to peacefully coexist with her foster siblings. However, it’s a delicate balance. She will tolerate them sleeping next to her, but that’s where the nicety ends. Any play or sudden exuberance on their part throws Yonita into a tailspin and she goes on the attack. She also has a tendency to be a bit self centered. Miss Y prefers not to share any toys or food. For this reason we feel Yonita would be happiest in a home where she is the only dog.

What Yonita lacks in doggy social skills she makes up for tenfold with people! She absolutely loves people and all the trappings they come with – a lap to sit on, a car to take rides in, hands for petting and delivering treats, and beds to share. Under the blankets of course! Miss Y does love her comfort.

Even though Yonita loves to cuddle, don’t think she’s a couch potato. Inactive folks need not apply! She has a high energy level and equally high prey drive. Cats will not be safe in her presence so a home without cats or small animals such as ferrets would be preferable. Some of Yonita’s favorite things are taking really long walks and playing endlessly with her toys. Because of her high energy level, Yonita would be best suited to a couple or single adult. She is a very busy girl and may prove to be too much for younger children. She can entertain herself, however, and will settle down and enjoy a marrow bone in a warm sunny spot.

Yonita is very watchful and will make a good alarm system. She feels it’s her duty to bark and alert her family if she thinks something is going on that shouldn’t be. She’s gentle with visitors though, and settles down quickly after their arrival.

Miss Y has not only beauty but brains to boot! Her foster mom says she learns quickly and already has a few commands down pat – sit, leave it and come. Her forever family should be willing to continue with her training. This headstrong beauty needs guidance and continuity in her life. Otherwise she’ll put herself in charge.

A home with a fenced yard where someone is around most of the time would be ideal for this pretty girl. She will do just as well with a walk during the day. Yonita may also enjoy accompanying you to work. She just can’t go on a “bring your dog to work day.” Her intolerant attitude toward other dogs would be too stressful for her.

Yonita is housebroken and crate trained. While she doesn’t love her crate – she’ll bark a few times – she does calm down and make the best of it.

Yonita’s foster mom sums her up in a few words: "Yonita is very smart, learns quickly and accepts direction well. She needs lots of exercise and can be dominant with other animals. She needs consistency and leadership from her new family. It would be great if she would be able to continue training. Her ideal home would be one where she would be part of the family. She loves going for rides in the car, and going for long walks. Yonita would be a wonderful and loyal companion."

If you would like to make this gorgeous girl part of your family, gas up the car and get ready to take a ride. Yonita is being fostered in Eastern Connecticut and will not be shipped.
