Handsome and tuxedoed Armani was surrendered by his former owner after Armani sustained an injury. Once in our care, Armani went right to the vet who told us that this sweet boy appears to have suffered a brain injury. He is blind, and lacks coordination when he walks, dragging his feet. (The hair is all worn off on his toes.) He's sooo handsome, and is only 1 1/2 years old.
Because the injury is not fresh, the vet did not think steroids to shrink the swelling of his brain would be beneficial. If only we got him sooner!
The instructions now are to "wait and see". He may improve on his own, in good time, though there is not a great chance that he will regain his sight.
Still, the doctor was impressed at how well he gets around, and his retina and optic nerve are still intact, so who knows? Maybe Armani will dance again and gaze at the starry night.
In his foster home, Armani is assisted by a Great Dane, who kindly shows him the way. Armani sticks to his big friend like glue and is beginning to make sense of the environment. As we give him time to heal, his foster family will help him with some basic training (which he lacks) and help him adapt as best he can.
All dressed up and no place to go. That's dear Armani, at least for the moment. Won't you throw your support behind this dapper young dog and help him get back on his pegs again? Just click on his picture to become his devoted sponsor. |
