We would like to introduce you to Avalon. Avalon was lovingly surrendered by her owner who is relocating to senior housing. Though Avalon is an eight year old senior herself, the facility didn't extend a doggy invitation to include Avalon - but FBRN did. Avalon has entered her foster home and has the entire family smitten with her enchanting personality and charm. She is cream colored, and she is very compact in height and length and is carrying a tad too much weight for her frame.
Avalon will be treated to a Frenchie Spa Day to help with her dirty ears and yeasty paws. She will probably love the extra fuss and attention and certainly will enjoy being treated to a day out and possibly a high-fiber biscuit for good canine behavior! We are concerned about her wobbly backside and fecal incontinence. Radiographs revealed there are three fused discs in her back (present since birth) and a pinched disc in her lower back, which is possibly the cause for her wobbly ways and incontinence. The Vet has prescribed an anti-inflammatory for discomfort, and hopefully her gait will improve, the pain will lessen and the results of a low calorie diet will prove beneficial to her.
All in all, Avalon doesn't realize she has a medical problem. She remains affectionate and smiley and happy with the attention and care she is receiving. She loves her squeaky stuffies, so we know her hearing is good, and she really loves lounging with a bone for chewing. Avalon is enjoying the perks of being semi-retired and spending days at home. The only quirk in her personality is her tendency to be food aggressive. She prefers dining solo, with just a good book for company. If anyone enters her area, she simply flops her backside down near her dish and chases the would-be intruder away.
