Brook’s cute little checkerboard face beams optimistically. “What caresses and treats are in store for me today?” she wonders. With matter-of-fact cheerfulness, she scoots along with her front feet on the tile floor, joining her foster mom in the kitchen. Her back legs do not move.
Recently paralyzed, Brook had spinal surgery in November and was doing well with physical therapy. However, several weeks ago, she went down again, and another herniated disk is suspected. Her previous owner was considering euthanasia for this two-years-young frog before surrendering her to FBRN’s care.
Stepping up when needed, FBRN enlisted a dedicated foster mom to care for this sweetie-pie’s special needs. Brook, who is incontinent, must wear a diaper and have her bladder manually expressed. Soon she will be evaluated by a neurosurgeon to determine what the future has in store for her. Some movement in her legs is a sign of hope that she may recover.
Specialists are expensive, but we cannot refuse Brook the chance to regain her mobility. We know times are getting tougher, but will you help? No donation is too small. Please take a look under the couch cushions, in the car, at the bottom of your purse. If we all pitch in together, we might celebrate the day when Brook walks again.
