OKLAHOMA 10 PUPPYMILL
Placed on the table at auction wearing a cattle tag with the number 179 and listed as a "brood bitch", Deena came to the attention of her rescuers. The Frenchies, who'd been living in horrific conditions, were probably seeing the light of day for the first time in their lives, only to be auctioned for profit as the miller owning them claimed to be closing his breeding kennel. The miller was leaving the business of breeding but was acquiring every last cent available to him through the sale of his stock. These Frenchies are valued only for profit and reproducing and are quickly discarded if they fail to generate income. There is never concern or thought given to the sick and older dogs, if their breeding days are over, so are their lives.
Like people, Frenchies have their own individual personalities. Some are stronger than others, some are less fearful, some are more resilient. Deena was neither strong nor fearless and certainly not the kind of resilient Frenchie that could survive this type of living hell for the remainder of her life. She is merely a youngster herself, at only three years of age, and she has already given birth to several litters of puppies. Her latest litter of five puppies was born in November of 2007. Luckily for Deena she was able to escape another breeding. Deena was saved thanks to the determination of her rescuers. They knew she could not survive with her broken spirit, and freedom was her only option.
Deena is now free for the first time in her life, and is slowly, slowly learning what kindness and compassion really are. She is so sweet, but painfully shy and unsure of what this new life is all about. She shares her foster home with another survivor named Polly who was also purchased at the auction. Polly seems to be a comfort to her, a pacifier, and another Frenchie sharing the same past but looking forward to a brighter tomorrow. Deena is a needy soul, taking small steps toward becoming a happy, confident and loved Frenchie. Please consider donating towards the well being of this precious girl!
