Attendees of the FBRN Training Seminar in the Twin Cities area had an extra special surprise. Little Desi made her debut, arriving with the volunteer who had arranged her surrender and leaving with her new foster mom. Six year old Desi is a recent breeder retiree who thankfully weaned her last litter of puppies. Now she is spayed and is longing to be someone’s special companion.
A darling little brindle pied, Desi is off to a bang-up start. She has already won our hearts with her sweet personality. Handed from lap to lap, she received plenty of oohs and aahs at the meeting. She is great with other dogs, is house-trained, and has the appetite of a teenage boy! Once settled in her foster home, Desi was so excited about all the lovin’ up and GOOD FOOD. She had baths and more GOOD FOOD and a trip to the vet who gave her a thorough work-up.
The vet found good news and bad news. The good news is that she is heartworm negative. But, she has infected ears and her lungs are congested, possibly with pneumonia. She needs dental work and has a large growth on her back leg which will need to be removed and tested when she is well enough for the surgery.
You are a valuable part of our team, and Desi needs your help to get ready for the beautiful forever life she deserves. Her foster mom will work to build her confidence and take her to all her vet appointments. Your contributions will provide her with the medical care she needs.
