This is one of those cases that made our volunteers lose, then regain, their faith in humanity. First there was the ugly side: a witness saw Doze dumped off an ATV in the middle of the Arizona desert. Unfortunately, this kind of animal abuse happens every day.

Luckily for Doze, guardian angels swooped in to save both him and our faith. The witness contacted a wonderful volunteer at Arizona Boston Terrier Rescue, who came over to pick him up. One look at Doze’s 38 pounds of Frenchie pulchritude was enough to let her know that he was not a Boston Terrier. But she did not turn him away, oh no! Quite to the contrary, she took him in and treated him royally: vet care (to the tune of $700.00 + from her own pocket!) for his skin and ear infections, a sprained carpus, and neuter surgery, plus a luxury bed, leather leash, flame collar, a new adjustable harness for those big and tall Frenchies, food, lots of treats, and a Nylabone of his own! Wow! What a lucky boy to have such a generous sponsor even before going on the foster page! We can’t say thank you enough.

Now that Doze has come to FBRN, his foster mom has great things to say about him. “Doze is the sweetest boy ever. He is completely housebroken without a single accident, and he now loves to use the dog door. We had a few bad days with the sprained front right carpus. Doze would walk around like a drunken sailor, and I feared that there might be more to his problem. But, with a few days of bed rest, he is a completely different dog. Although still a little wobbly at times, he now has a spring in his step and only limps a little bit if he has been playing too long. (At that point it is back to the bed to rest!) At first he had no interest in toys, but now raids the toy basket like a pro! There is nothing that this boy will not play with; balls, stuffies, bones, and even at one rambunctious moment he tried to nibble on a lower branch of my artificial Christmas tree!”

Doze is soaking up love, health and good fortune in foster care but will still need more support to complete his journey. Please click on his donation button and tell him that you care.
