Miss Eloise came to us last week and her foster mom commented on Miss Eloise's lithe and cat-like movements and quiet tread. We haven't seen Miss Eloise in person, so we cannot corroborate this phenomenon, but in thinking of our own Frenchie live-ins, we are reminded of the infamous Policeman's song from the infamous Pirates' Song from the Pirates of Penzance:
"With catlike tread (boom!)
Upon our prey we steal (bom!);
In silence dread (bang!),
Our cautious way we feel (boom!).
No sound at all (bang!),
We never speak a word (bom!),
A fly’s foot-fall
Would be distinctly heard – (boom!)"
This week, we have an update on Miss Eloise's settling-in process:
"Little Miss Eloise continues to impress us with her hijinx and hilarity, now having completed her first week in residence with us. Over the course of that time, she has grown quite attached to a number of household items, such as a couple of wicker baskets that she tried to convert into glorified chew toys.
Also, endearingly, Miss Eloise's feline-like demeanor continues to express itself with particular reference to her penchant for completely terrorizing helpless new balls of knitting yarn - we think she was just trying to motivate me to start a new project.
We have found that Miss Eloise can be quite greyhound-like sometimes wanting to run outside on her leash, but other times it seems that she would be quite content being pulled in a wagon.
She also likes to steal her foster sister JoJo's bed, not to sleep in, but to throw it around and attack it.
Regardless of the variants in her aerobic predisposition, we have certainly noticed that she is the quietest, stealthiest Frenchie that we have ever met...it must be part of the kitty-like demeanor.
Miss Eloise visited the vet on Friday and received a clean bill of health. Everyone in the office thought she was such a sweetheart."
If you'd like to buy Miss Eloise a ball of her very own yarn to strew about (supervised ONLY, of course!), please click on her photo. (Boom!) |
