OKLAHOMA 10 PUPPYMILL

The mission of collecting money and purchasing Frenchies at the Oklahoma puppy mill auction was a stark study in opposing emotions for the rescue angels who spearheaded the effort. Elation when a dog was won and released from a cruel life spent in a metal cage, and despair at those who got away, purchased by millers as breeding machines.

That, in a nutshell, is the story of Hannah and her sister. They were together in a kennel at the mill auction. Hannah, the tiny dark brindle with a white spot on her neck, was literally clutching her sister as people viewed the dogs before they went into the auction tent. The rescuers saw the terrified pair and told them they would be back for them. Hannah's sister was auctioned first, as a "lot" with three puppies. Despite their best efforts the rescuers could not bid high enough to take them all and when the gavel went down Hannah's sister was awarded to a despicable miller. When it was Hannah's turn she was (fortunately) auctioned alone, and the Rescuers were able to buy her.

That first night, alone in her crate, Hannah was inconsolable. There is no accurate way to describe the face of her pain, or the sound. There is no mistaking that her soul is broken.

If you can, take a moment to make a sponsorship donation. Support all the dogs saved that day at the auction, and remember those who could not be saved. Please sponsor Hannah -- in honor of her sister, wherever she maybe.
