Aloha and Mahalo to our teeny new wahine! At only five months old, Tallulah was a much loved little princess; a teacher’s special pet. Tallulah went to school to visit the little children and she loved them very much. She has her own toys and beds and all the good stuff a puppy could want. She is crazy about her little loofa dogs, especially the one with the hula skirt, which is how she got her name!
Hula Tallulah jumped, and jumped. She jumped out of SUV’s, jumped off of steps, and anything high enough for her to become airborne. This is how she fractured the growth plate in her rear right patella. Her momma could not afford to fix her, and made the loving, unselfish decision to surrender her to FBRN’s care. We gladly opened our arms in welcome to this baby frog. Tallulah brought all her things with her, including her entire collection of those funny loofa dogs.
We took her to an orthopedic surgeon who took good care of her. He sent Tallulah home with a cast on her leg for a month of crate rest- no more hula for Tallulah! She gladly shares her playpen with her foster family’s five year old child. She’s so happy to have a little friend for gentle rubs and kisses. She wants to play with the other dogs, but it’s quiet time for Tallulah right now.
Tallulah also has demodectic mange, so she is taking her meds and getting special lotion rubbed into her spots. She is eating special home cooked meals made especially for a puppy, and is getting lots of yummy treats, along with major doses of TLC to help her recover.
It’s tough on a youngster, having to sit so still. We’re sad that she has to go through this, but are happy we can help. If you too would like to help Hula dance again, please click on her sweet picture to the right. |
