Our newest foster, Josephine, came to us with a serious pain in her neck. No, it wasn't that pesky Napoleon, it was a herniated disk.
On learning that Josephine (who had already had two herniated disks and surgery on them last year) had another expensive procedure to undergo, her financially strapped owner made the decision to turn her over to rescue. Josephine is currently having an outbreak of some kind--we think it's an allergy--but her surgery is scheduled for this week.
With the current economic situation being what it is, and the cost of veterinary treatment in California being what it is (generally 20 to 40 percent higher than in places that are not California), we are bracing ourselves for more cases like Josephine's. When the economy is bad, families break up, homes are foreclosed on, people are forced to relocate: all of these things are bad news for dogs. You could help FBRN by becoming a volunteer , and perhaps fostering a Frenchie!
Have you ever had back pain? Remember how exhausting it is? You can send a little moral support and sympathy and a few samoleans if you click on Josephine's photo. She'll still have some recovery to go through, but the worst of her pain will be over!

We visited her in the hospital and if our home is not to be her forever home we would at least like to give a little to help.
