OKLAHOMA 10 PUPPYMILL
In the quiet comfort of their homes, rescue angels review the auction catalogue. They are strategizing, working out a game plan for saving those most in need. Here is one, "Lot number 168 – Vaginal prolapse with her last heat, recommend insemination." Immediately they agree, she will be coming home.
Vaginal prolapse is a painful, recurring condition. This girl should never be bred, as it is a hereditary problem. Her female puppies could suffer just as she is suffering. With vaginal tissue bulging, urine only trickles through. She licks again and again, trying to ease the pain.
The day comes and the team arrives at the auction grounds. Quaintly dressed children and scenes of abject cruelty are startlingly juxtaposed. "Where is she, where is number 168?," the team urgently wonders. They find her in circumstances worse than imagined. A wall of small kennels is stacked ten wide by six high. She is crammed in one of these with a MALE dog. She cowers with her back pressed against the rear of the kennel, protecting herself from him. He is after her, mounting her head. "We must get her, she will be coming home."
The time comes. She is being offered as part of a three-dog lot, a tricky bidding challenge. White knuckles, sweaty palms, pounding hearts…they've done it! They won the bid. She will be coming home. Maggy is coming home.
Meet Maggy. Safe in FBRN's loving foster care, she is a beautiful golden colored girl all fresh and clean from her baths. All the auction dogs were infested with ticks and Maggy had her share, but they are falling off now. She has already visited the vet, tested negative for worms, and received all her shots. Soon, she will be spayed and will never suffer from a prolapse again.
Only one year old, she is puppy-sweet and is having a wonderful time in her foster home. The feel of good green grass delights her, and she stretches full out to feel it against her belly. She chases the resident puggies around and around in play, enjoying their gentle company. Her little "ruff, whoo-ooo-ooo" bark greets unexpected noises.
Maggy has a lot to learn and she's catching up quickly. Hold open your arms and call her name and she comes running. She's learned that there are treats and toys and "Sharing is Caring" for your pug friends. She's making good progress with housebreaking and when asked to sit she crouches and cutely slides down.
Someday soon, Maggy will be ready. She will sit in someone's lap as they caress her lovely ears and hear them say, "Maggy, my love, you are home."
