UPDATE 11/6/08
Mr. Jones has been moved to another rescue, where he will be living and working with a dog trainer skilled in managing canine aggressivity toward humans.

Mr. Jones, Mr. Jones, Mr. Jones…he’s got a thingggg goin’ on. Recently transplanted from his country home to the big city, Mr. Jones has got a LOT of things going on, actually. His original caregivers surrendered him to FBRN after a several years of trying to correct his unpredictable and sometimes aggressive behavior. Our intrepid volunteer has vowed to crack the code with the help of our FBRN trainer.

Mister Jones is very cautious in his new surroundings. A bit overwhelmed, a bit scared, and very confused. Poor boy looks like he has a case of the blues on top of it all. But, he has found a distraction that pleases him very much. He looooves a good walk, taking in the sights and smells of his new urban environment. He is a perfect gentleman on his leash, seemingly unaffected by the commotion all around. He also enjoys sunning on the deck of his foster home, and asks politely to go out.

. When inside, it’s tough to say what is going on inside Jones' head. We know that he does not like to be picked up; touched when he does not initiate affection; any sudden/fast movements; rough-housing; or, any loud noises. He has selective hearing, and seems reactive to seemingly harmless noises, but may not respond when you call him. Could be the latter is just normal Frenchie behavior?!

Jones is very unlike his new roomie, a high-energy, and happy-go-lucky Boston Terrier named Oliver. Oliver wants to play, play, play, and Jones likes to lay, lay, lay! Despite the difference in personality, Jones remains amicable towards Oliver. They will tussle a bit -- action provoked by Oliver-- but when Jones has had enough he lets Oliver know and Oliver takes the high road.

Mr. Jones is still not sure what to make of his foster parents, taking little baby steps toward trust. He will follow them around, but flinch and pull back when touched. Patiently waiting, they have been able to sneak in a few little scritch-scritches here, a pat or two there. They are working so hard to turn this little fellow around, and they’ve only just begun! We have high hopes that Mr. Jones will be crooning a new tune soon – as a more balanced, happier frog.

Please send some good will donations and training treats this troubled little guy’s way. Simply click on his picture to the right and tell us you have a thing for Mr. Jones!
