UPDATE 11/6/08
Suzi contracted a particularly virulent strain of bacterial infection following a fight with another foster dog. Despite the veterinarian's best efforts to control the infection, Suzi faced amputation of one of her legs. Suzi was already deaf and blind, and had never acclimated to these changes, as most dogs do. She screamed and cried disconsolately any time she was not being held. The board of directors chose to humanely euthanize Suzi, rather than add yet another disability to her already fear-filled and unhappy life.

Apartment living was not sweet Suzi's cup of tea. Due to changes in her family circumstances, she was moved from her suburban home with a nice fenced yard and doggy door in the Midwest, to an apartment in the East. The pretty fawn six-year-old frog was so discomfited by this turn of events that she forgot her housebreaking skills and cried piteously all the time. Her caring owner made the loving decision to ask for FBRN's help in finding a home where Suzi could be happy again.

Through a well-coordinated transport effort involving volunteers from both FBRN as well as Kentuckiana Pug Rescue, Suzi has been whisked back to her roots in the Midwest, where she will be fostered in a home with, hooray, a yard! During the ride, she was a perfect lady offering kisses and paw pats quite nicely.

Suzi will need to rest a spell before looking for her dream home. She has an old ear infection that may not have resolved. She's a bit unsteady and bumping into things as well. Although it wasn't evident on her road trip, she has a history of defensive behavior towards strangers, too. We'll have her all checked out and fixed up before she moves on.
