Gorgeous, sweet Yvette is a 3 year old intact female. She has an pancreatic enzyme deficiency which may be contributing to her patchy fur and may be the cause of her year-long bout with diarrhea. She is enjoying a healthy diet in foster care and is taking medicine to address her deficiency. Yvette is presently in heat, and will be spayed and get her rabies vaccine when she's through that and her weight is stabilized.

Despite a troubled upbringing, Yvette's nature is incredibly sensitive and gentle. Her foster mom wrote this about the drive home, when she kept one arm next to Yvette most of the time. "She curled into a ball to get all her feet into my hand… and settled her head on my arm. When next she moved it was to raise her head and lick my hand – so softly it felt like a feather. She settled back to sleep. The next time I needed both hands for driving, I reached back for the blanket… and covered her thin little body. After a while I felt her whole body relax and she was in deep sleep."

Yvette is very fearful of humans and other dogs, but clearly wants and is learning to trust them. Already, she is accepting affection from her foster mom, eating her meals in more than a single bite, and tentatively approaching a foster sibling for a sniff on her own terms. Gentle nurturing and gradual socialization will, in time, teach Yvette what it means to be a beloved member of a family. We expect great things from this lucky young lady.
