ZouLou has crossed the Rainbow Bridge (posted June 16, 2010)
*****
Emerging from his basement lair, ZouLou was like a little wild thing. His original owners contacted FBRN for his surrender because they were moving out of the country and he could not go with them. It was not a moment too soon for this handsome pied Frenchie. Four years old and intact, he was spending his days from 8am to 7pm underground. Without the opportunity to go outside, he had forgotten whatever civilized behaviors he might once have known. He relieved himself in the basement, and did not know what to make of strange new humans offering friendship and a bath.
ZouLou’s first few hours in foster care were shaky. His foster mom wanted to clean him up and love him up right away, but was certain he was going to devour her alive. Soon things calmed down and she began to apply the principals of behavioral dog training. Imagining his world turned upside down, she soon understood his reactions. Leaving him alone for a while to adjust, she was delighted to find him quite transformed. He went from a lunging, angry beast to a sweet Frenchie willingly getting and giving affection. He did not have any accidents in the house, and even went sweetly for a vet check-up.
This is just the beginning for ZouLou. There are even more amazing good things ahead for him to savor. Soon he will be neutered, so he can begin his search for the wonderful forever home we know is out there for him! During the holiday season, won’t you give little ZouLou the gift of a bright future? Simply click on his picture to the right to contribute toward his surgery and care. Thank you for making a difference, one dog at a time! |
