In Memory of Sparky Ray

Sparky Ray passed out of our lives quickly and painlessly yesterday morning. His last weeks were spent among FBRN volunteers who gave him tenderness, affection and attention like he'd never known in his life as a stud dog. Sparky Ray came to FBRN through the generous donations of a number of Frenchie lovers who pooled money to buy his freedom from a breeder. They surrendered him to FBRN and the trip from North Carolina to his foster home was made possible by half a dozen volunteers who drove him in segments across several states. Everyone who spent time with him commented on his charm and loving personality. He was neutered and had his teeth cleaned, he was getting along with all the dogs in his foster home and was learning about life in a house, hanging out in the kitchen, waiting for tidbits to fall off the cutting board, watching tv and learning to beg for popcorn, and being held like a baby to get his tummy rubbed. Sparky Ray passed away on his way out the door to play in the backyard. A necropsy revealed that Sparky Ray had an enlarged heart and early bladder cancer. Sparky Ray, we hardly knew ye, but you touched the hearts of everyone you met. Sleep well, sweet boy.
