In Memory of Mattie

1996 - 2007

Heaven received a new Angel on October 23, 2007. Our beautiful Mattie (an FBRN grad) left us on that date. Her passing has left a huge hole in our hearts. Mattie came into our lives nearly five years ago when she and her housemate (Rebel) were rescued after their owner died while shoveling snow. She was supposed to be a foster dog but it took us all of ten minutes to decide she was home. Rebel stayed with his foster family also and just passed away three months ago. We managed to get them together occasionally for a reunion.

Mattie moved in and promptly took over the household. Someone once said frenchies usually move in, jump up on the couch and say "who's the waiter here"? That would clearly describe Mattie. She loved her toys, especially tennis balls and anything she could kick around and hear it squeak. As soon as she would come in from outside in the morning she would head to the dining room, choose a squeaky toy and the playing would begin. Her favorite game though was to put her ball under the furniture and bark until someone got it out for her. That was usually her "dad". He would try to resist but she had him firmly wrapped around her little paw. She also loved to give the UPS and FED X trucks heck for driving on "her" street. She just didn't like those trucks. If you asked her to do something she really didn't want to do she would grab a toy and pretend to play. It was as if she was saying "I'm busy, I'll get back to you later". Everything she did made us laugh. We miss her so much it hurts.

Godspeed our precious girl.
