In Memory of Aimee

My sweet Aimee died rather suddenly on Thursday, December 4th. She was 10 years old, and we had been together for just over a year. When Aimee and I first met at her foster home in Kansas, she wasn't sure what to think of me. During our 2-day trek to my place in central New York state, there was a moment when Aimee decided that she liked me. I'll never forget that. Once she settled in, and we got her medical issues under control, the most adorable personality emerged. Aimee loved being with people, and she would follow me through the house as I did chores. When I went out to dig in the garden, she liked to come along; she'd visit the neighbors, inspect my efforts, lounge in the sun, snooze in the shade, and raid the strawberry patch. She loved helping herself to strawberries! I can still see her triumphant expression when she found a plump, ripe berry in October, well past berry season. She was always a bit reserved, but she developed the confidence to befriend all sorts of people wherever we went. Everyone who met her commented on her sweet, gentle nature. She was dearly loved, and is very much missed. It's awfully quiet around here without her snorts and snuffles...I already know that I'll be adopting another Frenchie. It's the best way I can think of to honor Aimee's memory.

These are some pictures from thanksgiving, just a week before Aimee's death. In some of them, I think she looks pretty happy.
