In Memory of Taser
It has taken me 8 months to open the wounds of my heart to write this memorial for Taser. He came into my life a couple of weeks after I had lost my dog, Winston. He was hit by a car in West Palm Beach, Florida and was picked up by Animal Care and Control on the side of the road. Thank goodness for an angel named Jenny who works at the facility and found FBRN. She took him home and made arrangements for him to go to one of our vets the next day. They worked very hard to clean him up and assess his injuries. His eye was badly damaged. I brought him home in an e-collar with drops and ointment that he needed every 3-4 hours all day and all night. After 2 days his eye ruptured, and he had to be rushed to Hollywood Animal Hospital in the middle of the night. Dr. Shapiro was so very kind to Taser and to FBRN and we will be forever grateful to him for removal of Taser's eye, his neuter and the excellent care he provided at a huge discount.
After Taser was all healed, his adorable puppy personality shone brightly. He loved to play, cuddle in bed snoring loudly at night and was so loving and personable. He learned the doggy door and was completely housebroken. He was a joy and a delight and we all fell madly in love with this sweet boy. He received wonderful gifts from FBRN volunteers and admirers and even a T-shirt that said, "Don't Tase Me, Bro". He had a favorite stuffed hamburger that he would suck on and fall asleep.
We were all devastated when the day finally came for him to move on. He was adopted by a wonderful, active, loving young couple that lived across the street from a fenced preserve and had a Frenchie for him to run and play with every day. They immediately made him a member of their family introducing him to all the neighbors and relatives. On Mother's Day, the unthinkable happened. They were visiting Grandma when someone left a gate open. Taser wandered away, but as they were all out searching for him, he found his way back to the house, but fell into the pool. Upon their return they discovered his body. It was a horrible accident. It was nobody's fault...they took him along to a family function, because he was a member of the family. Although they loved him dearly, they returned his ashes to me (along with his precious stuffed hamburger) so I can always have him close by.
His pictures adorn our house in many rooms and we will miss him always.
