“When Emi first came to us, she was dirty, smelly and had little-to-no desire to respond to human interaction. During her time with us she has blossomed into a wonderfully enthusiastic and loving animal who simply leaps for joy (or sometimes spins) when her favorite humans arrive at the door or even simply enter the room. Even something as small as adjusting from sleeping on a pee pad to finding the comforts of a dog bed or random blanket on the floor have made such a difference in her life and ours. This sweet pup deserves the best her FBRN forever home can offer, and we would love nothing more for Emi but to find that with someone who can offer her unlimited patience, persistence, kindness and, above, all love.”

Story
As a former commercial breeding mama, Emi was never properly socialized or exposed to the nuances of being a family pet. She will need a savvy adopter to manage her insecurities and behaviors, but once you earn her trust, she will be your bestie for life, showering you with kisses and affection! Due to her resource guarding, Emi should be in a home with adults only and no other pets, but no worries; once you experience Emi’s love, you’ll realize you don’t need anyone else!
Housebreaking has definitely been a work in progress. And who can blame her? She grew up in a crate and had no other choice. Emi’s new family will need to have the patience and dedication to continue working with her on this important home skill. She doesn’t particularly care for the crate but loves to cuddle on a nearby blanket or at your feet when doing dishes. Who doesn’t need a super-cute, furry companion with whom to complete your chores?
If Emi were to describe her ideal home, she would live in a detached house with a yard and grass. Second to hanging out with her favorite adult humans is perhaps rolling in the grass, experiencing freedom and feeling the soft blades against her fur. She has a lot of time and experiences to catch up on from her contained past. She has darted out an open door, wanting to explore the big, beautiful world, so a fenced yard is preferable. She is also pretty vocal when visitors come calling so apartment living might not be best.
Emi definitely thrives in an environment where she has a lot of interaction with her people. As she settles into a new environment and routine, a midday break from work would not be enough. Not only to satisfy Emi’s desire for companionship, but to ensure her continued successful potty training. Her new family should also be prepared to continue obedience training and firm but positive reinforcement for appropriate behaviors. We know Emi’s best is yet to come as long as her people are committed to her.
It hasn’t been the easiest journey, but Emi’s foster family wouldn’t have it any other way. Here’s what they wanted to share about Emi, “When Emi first came to us, she was dirty, smelly and had little-to-no desire to respond to human interaction. During her time with us she has blossomed into a wonderfully enthusiastic and loving animal who simply leaps for joy (or sometimes spins) when her favorite humans arrive at the door or even simply enter the room. If you have the experience and want to continue teaching and guiding Emi through this thing called life, please send in your application. If you’re the lucky family chosen, be prepared to travel to Pennsylvania.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
