“Pops’ history is pretty much totally unknown and what we do know – is pretty grim. Pops deserves his golden years to be stellar and allow him to put his ugly past behind him. It might take a little bit to help him settle into somewhere new but he will repay you tenfold with his happy dances, little puppy kisses and the sweetest tail nub wag around. Once you are his person, he makes you feel like you’ve hung the moon and he loves you unconditionally. He’s a wonderful little pup and FBRN gave him the second chance at having his storybook ending. Whoever gets the chance to help him create that will be incredibly lucky!”

Story
Did you grow up with a favorite grandpa you called “pops?” Well, get ready to meet your new favorite Pops, an eight-year-old senior Frenchie who deserves all the love in the world. Pops was found by a Good Samaritan during a pretty intense heat wave, and when brought to the shelter, it was determined he suffered from chemical burns on his back, a broken rib and pneumonia. Thankfully FBRN and a loving foster swooped in and got him on the road to recovery so if you’re looking for a senior pup to spoil in his golden years, please consider Pops.
Despite the horrible condition in which Pops was found, he still loves people (isn’t that just one of the greatest things about dogs?). He does lack some control with personal boundaries so everyone in the household should be big enough to withstand 24 pounds of unbridled love. However, if you’re a family with a smaller human or two, tell us about any previous experience with successfully navigating the small, young human and doggy dynamic and your application could be considered. While Pops is a bit unsure of new canine friends, with slow and careful introductions, he warms up and can thrive with a like-size buddy once he feels comfortable. Because his skin is pretty fragile, any potential playmates need to be a good match: too big and rowdy might not be the best fit.
Pops is the sweetest old man who is always ready for a cuddle, especially on your lap, If no lap is available, he will make do with a dog bed and entertain himself with a Benebone or a pupsicle. He’s spry for an old man and loves to romp in the yard or go on a walk but doesn’t need too much exercise before he’s ready to find a spot to relax and stretch out. Due to his history of chemical burns, he needs a family willing to provide him a collection (or a few) functional yet stylish T shifts for sun and skin protection. Solids, patterns, new or vintage, Pops will rock whatever you put him in.
Pops is crate trained and house broken as long as he has frequent breaks. The ideal living situation for Pops would have someone home most of the time or the ability to take him to the office. He would absolutely love “working” with all your coworkers. Any potential adopters also need to be willing to monitor Pops for new or changing lumps and bumps and continue his two medications for comfort. The only real housing requirement is for his new place to be stair free. And if not stair free, he just needs a personal “stair chauffeur” to carry him whenever he has to ascend or descend said stairs.
Pops’ saint of a foster mom says, “Pops’ history is pretty much totally unknown and what we do know – is pretty grim.
Do you believe in happily ever afters? Do you want the nice guy to finish first for a change? Apply for Pops and if chosen to start the next chapter in his life, be prepared to road trip to Delaware. He’s too big to fly but will be your ride or die bestie.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
