It’s been a minute (closer to 225,600), but we haven’t forgotten about sweet Vali. He was surrendered at 10 months old to a shelter because his owner couldn’t afford his medical needs. Upon entering FBRN’s care, he underwent emergency colopexy surgery and has been fine tuning his regimen for digestive issues while in foster care. If you’ve been patiently waiting for this day, the wait is finally over and he is available!

At just a few smidges over a year old, Vali is still very much puppy with energy to match so a fenced yard is preferred. He loves the freedom to roam and does need to go outside frequently. Currently he also lives with two toddlers and a Frenchie foster sibling so he has many playmates to wear him out. They all get along really well. He is quite gentle with the kiddos and very playful with the more submissive resident Frenchie. He would love to go to a home with both human and tolerant canine playmates, but no cats please as he has no experience with felines.

Vali is an attention seeker who loves to follow you from room to (bath)room. He is also a cuddler connoisseur so make sure there is room for him on the couch or bed next to you! Vali isn’t all about his good looks either; he’s a smart boy and knows his commands. He loves squeaky toys and chew bones, especially water buffalo horns. He is crate trained and mostly housebroken. His digestive issues have improved drastically while in foster care with a routine of four supplements and special food. In the beginning, he struggled with bowel issues but having this new regimen has really helped his bowels.

Vali’s new family should be prepared to continue the dietary plan and also be prepared for an occasional accident as he acclimates to his new environment. He will stand by the door when he needs to go outside. He is also used to his foster mom being home most of the time. Of course that is what he would prefer, a stay-at-home-family, but he has been okay in the crate for a few hours and would be okay with a few breaks throughout the day. He could also thrive going to your dog-friendly office as long as frequent outdoor potty breaks are allowed in your schedule.

Vali has stolen the hearts of his foster family and they say, “he has just been a wonderful addition to our family. For the time that we had the pleasure of fostering him, he has brought joy and laughter to our home. Our family decided to take over fostering Vali from another FBRN volunteer, as he reminded us of our own French Bulldog (Bambi) who also had some GI issues/separation anxiety when he was a puppy. Vali reminds us so much of our sweet Bambi and I am sure he will bring joy to the family who adopts him. We love his little quirks, and how he somehow pushes you to the edge of your bed and ends up taking over your whole pillow at night. His face is stuck in permanent puppy mode, and I could never resist those eyes. He’s a big cheesehead and absolutely will do anything for a piece of cheese. I will definitely miss his little grunts of happiness when I pet him. I hope the family lucky to have him treats him well as he truly deserves the best!”

If you’re not afraid of a little bowel care routine and want a puppy who gets along famously with kids and dogs, Vali might be your guy. If you are the lucky chosen applicant, be prepared for a road trip to the Chicago area and distance is not an issue. Vali loves car rides as long as rest stops are involved.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
