Get ready to meet FBRN’s newest cutie patootie, Cherry! This chocolatey gray beauty was heartbreakingly left overnight in a fenced area at a shelter, along with (who the shelter believes) was her brother. As you might imagine these two were spoiled rotten as soon as they were taken in, and her brother was quickly adopted. Cherry had to remain behind because she was on medical hold for her spay surgery, which she didn’t mind one bit because she loved the shelter team and the feeling was mutual. She’s now fully recovered and ready for her fresh start with the support of FBRN.

Cherry is petite at just 19 pounds, long-legged with a nicely shaped muzzle that allows for easier breathing. She’s slightly underweight but loves to eat so her foster mom is happily helping her add a few healthy pounds. In her foster home, Cherry is settling in beautifully. She can be a little timid at first, but she’s learning quickly that people are kind and safe. Once she trusts you, she is all in. She loves to snuggle close (classic Frenchie style), follows her foster mom everywhere, and happily sleeps in her kennel through the night without a peep. Cherry adores affection but can be slightly head shy, so she seems to appreciate a gentle, slower approach for now. She recently met a nine-year-old girl and absolutely melted…hopping into her lap, snuggling in close, and pawing sweetly for more pets.

Cherry has been getting along well with the resident dog in her foster home and is even sharing the space with two cats. She’s very curious about them (following but not chasing) and has even offered a playful bow or two! On leash, she initially showed a bit of reactivity at the shelter, but she is already gaining confidence with calm, structured walks and positive experiences. Cherry seems to genuinely enjoy staying close to her people and loves spending time in the fenced yard. She’s also doing wonderfully with house training. She goes right outside and takes care of business, although she’s still learning how to tell her foster family when she needs to go, so frequent potty breaks are helping her succeed.
