Please welcome Hazelnut to the FBRN family. Sweet and timid Hazelnut came to FBRN after she was surrendered by a commercial breeder. She is 4 years old and seems to have never experienced living indoors or having quality interactions with people.
Hazelnut arrived in foster care frightened of just about everything. Understandable as she has never experienced any of the things she encountered there – doorways, swift movements, being picked up. At first, she mostly cowered and hid. In her first week of foster care, she had emergency surgery for an infection, pyometra, which could have been deadly had it gone untreated. Thankfully she’s in great hands and after surgery with a quick overnight at the hospital, Hazelnut is now on track for a swift recovery!
Her foster mom tells us that each day Hazelnut comes out of her shell a little more and is learning to trust. She’ll go out the door to the back yard now and even climb stairs. Hazelnut’s favorite spot is on the couch next to her foster mom (who keeps the good cheese snacks), a sure that Hazelnut is starting to accept the wonderful life with a home and family.
If you’d like to send her a few encouraging words as she adjusts to her new life in foster care, please click on the link above and become Hazelnut’s sponsor. We all can’t wait to see this sweet girl find a loving forever home!
