“Maizy has come so far since we first met, she didn’t understand that humans are loving and not scary. She wouldn’t sit in our laps, and would stay away from us. She is very food motivated, I mean who isn’t? Now she loves to sit in our laps, and comes running so fast when we get home. She does this funny little thing where instead of giving your hand kisses she’ll suckle on your finger to let you know she super excited you’re there. We love her so much and have thoroughly enjoyed watching her learn to become a puppy where toys are super cool, humans are pretty cool and that running and playing in the yard on a warm day is probably the greatest thing ever. We just want a great family that will love her for the rest of her life. She is the cutest, funniest, spunkiest pup and is the light of our family. She makes us laugh daily and we can’t wait for her to find the perfect forever home, even though we’ll miss her greatly.”

Story
Gorgeous brindle-baby, Maizy, is ready to find her perfect forever home! This special little girl is a happy and mischievous pup who’s looking for a loving and patient family to continue her puppy training.
Maizy is a typical Frenchie puppy who plays hard and sleeps hard. Her most favorite toys are cardboard paper towel rolls, which she totes around and then energetically rips to pieces. Maizy also loves to play tug-of-war with the other pups in her foster home. She gets along well with other dogs and hasn’t met a person she didn’t love! Maizy is submissive for the most part, but if the other dogs get too rough, she lets them know she’s had enough. When it comes time to sleep at night, Maizy likes to get under the covers and snuggle next to her favorite human.
The perfect family for Maizy is one with someone who can be home most of the day. Maizy is still a puppy and would benefit from continued potty training. It would be ideal if Maizy’s forever family included another energetic dog who enjoys playing. Playing is one of Maizy’s most favorite things to do! Any type of home would be fine, as long as Maizy has access to a yard area for potty breaks. We think Maizy would make a great office companion since she enjoys being the center of attention.
Maizy has a few quirks that she is working through as a result of living in a cage for the first 6 months of her life. Sometimes she’s happy to snuggle on your lap and other days she prefers to lay in her bed with her foster fur-brother. Since she is being fostered in Iowa, and isn’t a fan of the cold weather; Maizy hasn’t been on many walks. She will require additional leash training in her forever home, but with another fur-sibling to accompany her, she will learn in no time! Maizy still has a few potty accidents, but these can be avoided by taking her out consistently. Also, Maizy occasionally leaks a little bit of urine when she gets really excited; her forever family should be aware of this little quirk.
Additionally, Maizy should be fed separately from other dogs in the home. She is bossy when other dogs get close to her bowl and it’s best to feed her in a separate area. Her foster family has been working on teaching her to take treats nicely. Maizy probably never had treats before coming into foster care, and she tries to take them really fast before any of the other dogs can get to them! With continued work in her forever home, we believe she’ll be the master of safely taking treats in no time.
Maizy is very healthy, however during her spay surgery she needed lifesaving intervention to keep her alive. She has not had any issues as a result of this nor was there any mention of long term damage. However, Maizy should not be put under anesthesia again in the future. Maisy currently takes a daily probiotic and DogZymes supplements which her new family will need to continue.
Maizy’s foster family has this to share about her, “Maizy has come so far since we first met, she didn’t understand that humans are loving and not scary. We just want a great family that will love her for the rest of her life. She is the cutest, funniest, spunkiest pup and is the light of our family. She makes us laugh daily and we can’t wait for her to find the perfect forever home, even though we’ll miss her greatly.”
If you would like to adopt the adorable Miss Maisy, be prepared to travel. She is being fostered in Central Iowa and will not be shipped. However, Maisy is a great traveler in the car and small enough to fly in cabin on a plane. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
