Button is all personality! She does the best happy dance which includes tappy toes, head wiggles and foot kicks. She is full of fun and mischief, but she likes to assert her authority. Television is one of her favorite activities. But she does not like evil people or horses in shows, growling and barking if she feels the plot is getting too dicey! At 17 pounds, she is a little bundle of love. The start of her life was a tough one. She is so thankful to be rescued and be part of a family. Whoever adopts her will be lucky indeed. She is a great lesson for us all, to live each day to the fullest and not let the hardships of our past hold us back.”

Story
Great things come in small packages! This bubbly, blossoming, beautiful girl has made her way to the available page! Button was surrendered from a commercial breeding facility and spent most of her days living in a cage before coming to FBRN. Her foster families have worked hard to teach her how to be a “house dog” and she has made a lot of progress. She is looking for a special forever home with dog training experience that can provide her with firm boundaries, routine and structure so she can thrive.
Cute as a button, at a petite 17 pounds she is a little bundle of love with big brown eyes that will make your heart melt. She loves watching the world around her: birds, butterflies, people, you name it! Find a good bench at the park and she is in heaven. Button came from a place where she had very little, therefore it is no surprise that she is a resource guarder. Her foster moms have worked very hard on this behavior and she has made great improvement. But anyone adopting her should be willing continue her training.
On the health side, Button arrived with an untreated injury to her back right leg. As a result, she mostly walks on three legs and drags the other leg behind her. Her back is also fragile. While she gets around the house and yard amazingly well, she needs to be carried up and down stairs and cannot take long walks. Button has battled several ear infections, and is NOT a fan of ear cleaning or treatments. She will come with a small muzzle to help with that job. She does not mind having the muzzle on at all. She is potty and crate trained, and happily goes into her crate every night.
Button would do well in either a house or apartment as long as there is a fenced yard for her to use and her family is willing to carry her if stairs are involved. She would do best with a adults who understand her background, strong personality, and physical limitations. Having someone in the family who is her primary person to reinforce appropriate behavior would also be ideal. A busy and chaotic household or a house with children would likely be overwhelming for Button.
Her foster mom wants you to know, “Button is incredibly funny and sassy. She constantly has me laughing. Nothing makes her happier than napping in a sunbeam. She barks at the clouds in the yard when they block the sun. She is very cuddly and affectionate with her people and deserves a loving home.”
So press the button to adopt Button!
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. Button loves to ride in the car if that’s your choice. If you are too far away to drive, she is ‘small as a button’ and would be glad to fly home with you. She is little and has no breathing issues. Are you a train person? Amtrak is available!
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations and we do not set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
About Button
Button had spay surgery on 11.16.2023.
Button sustained an injury to her back right leg, likely H-MPC Grade 4, and while she can walk, the leg drags behind her. She must be carried up and down stairs and never jump off furniture. She may require further treatment or surgery in the future. She must remain on daily Vetri Disc and Gabapentin.
Button is a resource guarder with a bite history and requires a firm pack leader and must never be around small children. She must be monitored during feeding and when toys are present. A slow intro is required if there are other dogs in the home.
